Contains mink oil. Personally, I wouldn't use it for that reason. Mink oil can turn rancid over time.

Yep, good advice. Lets leave the mink oil to the minks.

Because it is so cheap to obtain the raw materials and make, that's why. Same with neatsfoot oil. It's made from the ground up hooves of cows and horses...and also turns rancid, but Tandy sells thousands of gallons of it every year. Why, you ask? Once your leather gear softens up, then breaks down, they can sell you more leather...then more mink oil and neetsfoot oil....then more leather...then more.....you get the idea.

Keep in mind there's a supply & demand cycle that can lead to a stretch-out of a phaseout of anything. Nobody wants to use mink oil / neatsfoot oil anymore? Demand down, supply up, prices drop. Gosh, now it's a great deal again, so people use it for longer. Yeah, they might be the LAST person on the planet using it, but look, they got a lifetime supply for $10!!!!

Unfortunately it’s about money. As Michaelson pointed out, Mink oil is inexpensive to produce; it’s also been around for years and it when first applied to leather it seems to have good results. It’s in the long term where the problems really start to occur.

I'm trying to figure out if I can apply to the old Plymouth so IT will last longer....but I guess after 55 years, it's allowed to look a LITTLE older now.
