I was on the Pecards site in the indy section and saw an indygear lotion, what is it anybody? Illinois

It's Motorcycle Leather lotion under a different name. Best for use on the tight grain leather, like lambskin. Reminds you of Lexol.

When you get it the bottle will just say leather lotion, it won't be Indy-tailored labeling. (Michaelson, I think the fact is that you are right, it IS the Motorcycle Leather lotion, but it doesn't say so on the bottle. I almost wonder if the Motorcycle Leather lotion is the one time they made a unique label for a common product.)

Essentially what they did is create many tailored drop-down menu items that all translate to the same thing. The same products are bought through their Goblin King Armory menus, but all the products items there are called 'Goblin Drool (4 oz, 6 oz, of 8 oz)'. But it is the exact same product in the same container w/ the same labeling. It's just a nice idea so folks know EXACTLY which menu choice to pick for what THEY want to use it for.

I purchased Pecard's Exotic Leather care for one of my "gator" wallets. After applying the Vasoline type product, I was expecting to see great results. What I saw was some of the coloring being buffed off my very good wallet.
Be careful when using leather conditioners. Many do remove some color. I guess it would be good to test the stuff first on a hidden area. I didn't because Pecards is expensive and especially formulated for the exotic leathers.
Luckily, my wallet was not ruined. Now, I use clear Kiwi shoe polish. It works great and leaves the "gator" shiny and supple. In fact the Bosca Co. that sells exotic leather wallets, recommends the clear polish over more expensive preparations.

Sorry to hear of your experience with the exotic dressing, Ed. Pecards is very specific as to what to use on what. The exotic dressing is pretty specialized dressing, and it's one I've never used myself as all my leathers have been pretty standard....horsehide, lambskin, cowhide, goatskin and the like, and I've NEVER had a problem with ANY of Pecards products to date, and I've been using it for a LONG time.

Did you drop Eric a line regarding what you experienced? He's a member here, Leather_Loco, and a VP of Pecards co.

No, I didn't send any type of complaint. I just looked at it as part of my learning curve. Even at my age my "curve" is getting longer and longer. So, I guess I should be getting wiser and wiser. NOPE, hasn't happened!

The white rag I used to treat my brown whip with leather dressing pretty much matched the whip by the time I was done, but I didn't see any color loss on the whip itself. I figure some of it was extracted tanning oils, but just as much was probably dirt and grime. And now the whip is NICE and slinky again...and has a slight (but not unpleasant) waxy feel - just like when if first arrived. New whip again, one year later.

Btw, I didn't realize Eric was VP - since he answers the phones, tracks orders, and handles customer service...I didn't realize I was talking to a sitting member of the board at the time. Thanks for being cool, Eric.

I can't find the thread above. Which Pecards is best for goatskin?

I use the jell on goatskin.
