Taking the Raider's turn to the extreme????

Seeing as Halloween is upon us again, I have brought out the horror films to get into the spirit. Anyway, last night the wife and I were watching The Wolf Man Universal Pictures, 1941, Lon Chaney Jr.,Claude Rains, Evelyn Ankers. (whoa, felt like Remington Steele there for a minute). So we're watching the film and something about Lon Jr.'s fedora was bugging me. Then all of a sudden it hit me; the bow on his ribbon was at the rear of the hat, I mean the exact rear of the hat. Has anyone ever seen this particular placement before?

I do know that it wasn't too terribly uncommon for ribbons to be on the back of men's felt hats back then.
I believe it was a feature found more often on women's hats than men's though.

I have heard of this ribbon placement too. I do not think the hat is actually 'turned' but the ribbon is tied on in the back.

Yup, man dad pointed that out the last time we watched that movie. Strange isn't it?
By the way, I love that movie.

Yeah I don't think it's turned either just trying to find a subject line.

Some hats did, indeed, have ribbons on the back of the hat. I've owned several vintage hats that were like that, so it's easier to spot ribbons on the side.

That's funny, this exact topic came up on The Fedora Lounge recently - check it out, they were able to scare up old ads showing the hats.
(I just searched and searched there, and couldn't for the life of me find it again. Any other FL'ers out there know the thread I mean so we can link it from here?)
