How bizarre that you should post about this...I just told my wife that I wanted the burgandy robe in the LLBean catolog last night! Looks close enough to me!

As far as I remember Pyroxene got one that is pretty close. It might be the LL Bean-one, but try ask him.

Best regards

It seems that the Raiders coat/robe had black or dark collar and cuffs.

I was scoping out that robe in the new catalogue yesterday as well, its eerie how things like this just pop out of no where. :P

Maybe it's double-coloured. Dark inside and ligher outside.

That LL Bean housecoat looks more like the one Indy wore in Last Crusade in Venice.

You're probably right, SJ. They're a bit scarce these days, though!

Yes, I think it's a Smoking Jacket, but more a brocade/quilted thing and definately not the polyester silk version so beloved of Mr Hefner.

This one is still a bit thin.

Image

It's sort of a westonised kimono.

Thanks, JAN

I received my smoking jacket from ASIACHI.COM and it's great. Very comfortable and soft. I real joy to wear.

Image

The color is not 100% screen accurate but it will do for now.

Here it is from the front and back

ImageImage

One of the things I like about it is that it is quilted similar to Indy's.

Image

All in all, a really nice addition to any gear collection.

Robes, Smoking Jackets, Dressing Gowns were and still are common for gentlemen to wear.

I read once, "A dressing gown or robe and fine pajamas are so elegant that in principle you could wear them to fetch the bread for breakfast. It would certainly give the baker a shock."

I will post some additional information soon. I plan on getting one custom made.

Cheers,
Pyroxene

Actually, that bath robe is a great match for the one worn in LC. It's the only time you see Indy bare footed. LLBean used to offer a Forest Green and it was a perfect match (for my screen). Some have argued that it was dark blue in which case the Navy would be good.

This is one of the closest I have seen that is commerically available. It's the Brooks Brothers Velvet Smoking Jacket. Cotton Velvet with pure silk lining. Hand-tailored in England. Quilted shawl collar. Burgundy or Navy with black collar.

Although Indy's may be waist length, Indy's was floor length. I guessing that is one distinction between a dressing gown and smoking jacket. Just my thoughts.

Oh..yea..the cost....$998.00 USD

Pyro,
I've been trying to get one of those ever since you first posted, but I have troubles with my size being back-ordered. Perhaps I'll try again soon. Thanks for re-posting those pics.

I am thinking about emailing My Custom Tailor to see if they would add a similar robe to their line.

I was looking at that scene too, anyone notice in the close-up shot of the gun, it's a completely different coat. (Might not even be Ford).

Mmmm strange i can't remember what he wears with the coat except the wifebeater. I think we can see his legs when he's saying about the hocus pocus because he go far from the camera for a bit.

Incredible of what details we start to speak about in this forum!!!

Well, even if a given house coat fails to resemble Indy's, we should alway remember that Gomez Adams also wears the things :D

I'm looking into doing a robe like this, but have a feeling it'll be expensive. This type of dressing gown is tailored like a regular suit coat (fully lined with padded shoulders), so it's basically like a long, tailored jacket. Sourcing a similar material will also put the price up, but, for the moment, I'm looking into getting it made with various solid silks.

Kind regards,
Indy

Well... I've priced these out, and as I suspected, they'll run about $450, fully lined in silk, tailored suit shoulders, etc. The material would be a nice raw silk exterior with a smooth silk lining and matching lapel, cuffs, etc.

If you want it made in a different exterior material that you provide yourself, I can bring the price down to $375.

If any of you are really interested in this, I may be able to knock off 10% off the price for the first customer. E-mail or PM me for details.

Kind regards,
Indy

Adding this link to the collective database. I haven't purchased anything from them but what they do offer appears to be very nice.
