Clarification on the Wal-Mart Indy Pants.

I really loathe Wal-mart and try to avoid that corporate monster as much as I can, but they kind of have us between a rock and a hard place these days as far as prices are concerned
but anyway.
These are the pants to which I have been referring when I speak of the 'Wal-Mart Indy pants'. They are pretty much a dead ringer for the taupe color. The pants on the left are the coveted L.L. Bean taupe dress chinos that are no longer available, the right are the Wrangler Wal-Marts. All you need to do is buy them two inches longer than normal, take them to a tailor and tell them to use the extra material from hemming them to make the pocket flaps. AND you can have the flaps made screen accurate! This hem and flap alt. costs about 15-20 bucks normally. If you want to go all out and also have a button flye installed(my personal favorite) the total goes up to about 40 bucks.
These pants are only $14.97 at Satan-mart,,I mean Wal-mart and they are 100% cotton and pretty decent quality. They are sized pretty accurate, but you can tell they are going to shrink a bit, so be advised, get an inch bigger waist. Here are pics (second is a close up of the tag).

P.S. I haven't forgotten about the gloves, I still haven't found the correct generation 1130's, when I do I'll report! (Agent5 , I think, you are wanting some, right??)
have a nice day.

My suggestion is dont put them in the dryer, they will stay looking new a lot longer.

I have a few pairs of these as I live close to a WalMart. Mine have been going round after round along with all my other office clothes for a couple of years and they're holding up fine. I use the cold/cold in the washer and the low heat setting in the dryer to prevent any sizing issues.
P.S. While I'll agree that WalMart definately is the dark overlord of the retail world, a person has to save money where they can these days.

I just had a look at these, & they are very close. Especially in color. I believe the color is called bark, if I saw correctly. I'm going back to get a pair myself. That's a great idea with the flaps, Texas Raider. I can get a pair of these to hold me off until I can afford a pair of Magnoli tailored pants. Thanks for the heads up

Are those pants more gray or brown?
I don't think they would have a size long enough to have extra material left over for me. They probably don't sell seven footer sizes.

Oh he's not at all that tall in the legs or torso, but with that enormous gourd perched precariously on his shoulders he ends up being over 6ft!

Maybe we should have sought clarification. I thought he meant a seven footer in height, not width . . .

What size hat must he wear?
We had a guy here with a bit of an ego, and a few years ago he went out and got a VERY expensive Mercedes -- all the options, etc. When I heard that, I remarked that he must have needed the head room . . .

Puzzles me why you would want Indygear to look new? They artifically aged the clothing for the films, wouldn't that be the goal for the "look"?

I didn't mean that I was seven feet tall. I am 6'3" but we were talking about getting them a little tall and using the excess to make pocket flaps and then I need some extra to have a good size hem to keep the stitching from catching on the speed lacers of the Aldens. So, I think I would need a seven foot size.

Walmart has been such an annoyance lately. I just saw those pants maybe a month ago but I went back this weekend to pick up a pair and woosh! no pants! Mysteriously though a fresh set of the 1130 gloves with the patch on the palm showed up. After I found a very nice pair of gloves. I'm sure as soon as I find a good pair of pants the wranglers will reappear.

Sorry to hear about that, Colby. I bought a pair Thursday & I love them. My wife was even kind enough to sew on the pockets from the excess material for me. They make a good pair of Indy pants. Much better than I had before. You are right, though. Wal-Mart is an annoyance. I'm still waiting for mine to carry the gloves. As much as I hate them though, I am a slave to there low prices. Curse my penny-pinching soul

I just went to another walmart and found the exact pair I have been looking for! I really like the way they look except the crease down the front which I imagine that can be ironed out. I don't think thats a problem though. Unfortunately they didn't have a pair in my waist size that also had an extra leg length for pocket flaps.

What size do you need, Colby? Wal-Marts around here always have them, if you want I'll grab a pair and ship em to you.
have a nice day.

I went ot asda (Walmart) in the U.K.
Bought a pair of pretty close trousers from their George range.
They had two types a thicker almost jean material and a thinner trouser material - sadly all too large for my waist.
Sorry I can't give more details.
But for you UK guys maybe one to check out at £18.00
