Hola,

Can any of the UK gearheads tell me where to find Letap? I haven't seen it anywhere!

Cheers,

Matei

You should be able to purchase it directly from Peter at Wested Leather. Drop him a line.

Bet that was a D'oh moment. :)

Came up with this address on the web too:

Letap Suede Ltd
25 Warwick Rd
Stratford
London
E15 4JZ
Tel: 020 8534 8699

BTW that's not anywhere near the LC/Wested address is it?

It dawned on me after I left that I should've picked some up or asked about it!

As it happens, Stratford is pretty close to where we live - I'll have to drop 'em a line or stop by.

It's the leather dressing that Peter recommends (and Michaelson!). Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a agent in the US and you can't send/get it by mail cos it's in a pressurised can and can't go on a plane.

It's covered on the main site:

http://www.indygear.com/faq/jacketfaq.shtml

Pecards is a different type of product cos you have to leave it to soak in and then dry, the Letap dries almost straight away and you can wear your jacket in just a few minutes.

Spooky stuff too. Comes out as a foam, then immediately liquifies! Love the stuff, and HATE we can't get it over here. :(

That sounds like some GREAT stuff I had back in the late eighties...there were two great products, one a leather conditioner/protector, the other a waterproofer.

The conditioner was so good, that you put a little foam on the boot or shoe, spread it on while it liquified (took like 5 seconds to do), then you could BEAT that leather shoe on a SHARP CORNER and it didn't scuff the shoe! Amazing!

The waterproofer was pretty powerful, too...there's another thread where I wrote about waterproofing a kleenex for fun. It held water just like a cup. ;)

Not on a boat, not on a plane.
Not in the dark, not in the rain!
They will not ship it, Jerry old chap,
They will not ship that darned Letap.

I gave 'em a call and some heavily accented woman answered. I asked where I could purchase their products and she thought I was trying to sell them something.

Once we finally got this sorted yer wan said that she would happily post their stuff out to me if I couldn't find it in the shops.

Seems easier just to give Wested a ring. Unless the shop is on your way home or something.
