I got a resin cast S&W, however it was painted all black with the paint scratched off to look distressed, didn't look very good so I busted out my airbrush and repainted it gunmetal black and the handle dark brown. found some gold stickers I could cut into circles and bam! gold inlays, what do you think?

I got it from paul roberts, www.artsee1.com it was all black with the paint scratched off revealing the grey resin underneath, you can see on his website, I also broke the lanyard ring being a dumba## but I'm planning to make one and install it to give me a moving part!

A good tip which I have used a few times is to paint the gun silver first, let that dry for a week or so then add your black or gunmetal topcoat. That way, you can lightly sandpaper the areas you want to distress and the 'metal' underneath will show through.

It should be easy enough to fix the lanyard ring - you could use a piece of wire coat hanger to fashion the ring.

Are there small bubbles on the other side of the gun? I got mine from him a long time ago and although it is the best replica out there, he has many, many problems with his molds. Mine is all screwed up. One side is fine, the other is completely ridden with tiny bubbles and the where he put the two parts of the moold together is all off. There's a large gap where the two meet and on top of that it's not even set straight. The barrel was also pointing downward so I had to fix that too. About the best thing I can say about it is it does the job of a prop gun, but it's not a nice piece of work. Looks like the front piece to your barrel (can't remember the name of it) is not put on correctly. Am I wrong?

I feel for what he charges, they should be perfect out the door. When I asked him about this after getting it. he was not too receptive and seemed to take my comments personally, which I think he should. Only, he never did anything about it. :evil:

If only Todd's Costumes would have gone ahead with their S&W replica. As clear as it was explained to me, I still cannot understand why he didn't go ahead with them. There had to be another reason why he chose not to do them. He could've sold them on the low down and everything would've been oh, so cool. 4 out of 5 of the gearheads here last weekend said they would've goten one.

Oh well.

Todd, if you're listening, please reconsider. I'll help you sell them on the low down.

If I remember correctly, I think part of it had to do with having the actual S&W logo on it. It would almost be like makng an HJ repro hat with HJ labels and calling it your own. I could be wrong. But I agree, Jay, the thing looked d*mn good!

The thing is, you are basically casting an antique gun - not something currently for sale or somebody else's work (ie recasting) so I personally see no problem with making a resin version of the HE2. Its basically the same as making a replica of the MKVII gas mask bag, IMO.

Hey guys. The gun is mine. There is nothing I can do about the condition at this time it is that or nothing and I describe it as beat up and distressed because of that.

It is what it is cus I have made a few of them in that mold and molds are only good for few copies of perfection and then heat and what not get to them and they start breaking down. It was great a few years ago but the mold had deteriorated a bit. It is still the cheapest way I know of to get one and wish the option had existed when i wanted one or I wouldn't have had to go to so much trouble but that is why i did it because it didn't exist. I still offer it occasionally because it is that or nothing and I use it personally and am glad to have it. I do not tout it as a work of art but a prop. Since it is just a prop I let um go now and then but I am retiring the mold and will soon have new one with the correct grips and bullets inside the chamber and no bubbles as it will be new.

Agent 5 send me your gun back and I will send you out and older one that I have here which i use that is really fine.

I have only had one complaint that I know of and a few other questions from others so that must have been you that owns the store right?. My thoughts were if I liked it and it was good enough for me I was thinking it would be good enough for you and others but I have gotten better at doing them since way back then and there may yet be some things I can do even though the mold is going.

ah yes mine is bubbly on the reverse side, and in the pictures the barrel has actualy broken off, I've re-glued it, in the picture it was broken so it looks off, its better now. I like it, after all it is a prop gun and until someone else can offer something better, It does the job for me, after all if want something really authentic you need the real thing a good one can run you 500 or so then you'll still have to saw down the barrel, get a handgun permit, yada yada so on and so forth. So until then thanks for my gun artsee1. And if you make a better one, I'll be first in line. cheers
