I'd love to see pics! There are some good "budget Indys" around here and it's always great to see fans enjoy the hobby whether it's a Wested or a close-enough jacket they picked up somewhere.

Well here I am. Me in my poor college student budget indy gear. I know the coat may be a little long, but it was the best thing I could find for the price. All the other jackets I looked at that were anywhere near being a good substitute were at least $100 which is way out of my price range. LOL I had to eat Ramen noodles for 5 days straight just to save up enough money for the bag and strap. Good lord the camera really does add on pounds. I am only 5'6 and 145lbs. The pic makes me look like I am 180 at least. I am debating whether or not to wear the whole tie thing. As long as the average joe on the street an recognize me as being indy, than its all good.

You know, it actually looks pretty good man!!
I swear, I totally know what you mean about Ramen noodles. To buy my first beaver Adventurebilt, I lived off of Ramen noodles, Mac & Cheese and PBJ's with water for a month! I flat out respect anyone who can live on that stuff and not go insane.
Is the fedora a Dorfman?
Kudos for putting together a great looking budget Indy outfit!
PS: Keep the tie.

Nice gear!
I've been living off of Bologna and frozen dinners since August, does that count?

No, not the town in Italy.
Its a type of lunch meat here in the US. Its pretty good with a piece of cheese and a bit of mustard.

gravenewworld,
Great looking gear! You did a great job putting it all together. In future years, you can upgrade! Oh, and get some pictures on those walls.
erri, sadly Bologna pronounced "Baloney" is usually made with beef. -It is closer to "Mystery Meat."

Ow ok... here it's called "mortadella" ("bologna" is just one of the many kind of "mortadella"we have), so you americans call it just bologna... mmh ok very interesting.
Sorry for the off topic Grave New World (very funny pun

GNW, great looking gear, you've got a lot of the real pieces already. A little while down the line you can top it off with a Wested and an AB, you're done!

Oh, and get some pictures on those walls. Wink Laughing
LOl yeah, my roomates and I moved into this old old old house in Philly. The interior decorating isn't so hot.
What college do you go to?
I go to Villanova. If you haven't heard of my school, I'm sure you will this year since we are going to be ranked one of the top 3 teams in nation for basketball. Go Cats!
Now for some of the close up pics:
Free marines web belt! (LOL ignore the movado...I really am poor right now)
$50 whip
My impromptu gun belt
$23 jacket ! Yes it is brown, the light just makes it look black.
Jacket from the front. Pockets aren't really the right style, but couldn't find anything better.
The best part is the fact that I still have $20 left to buy 2 cases of PBR for friday!!!

I thought I'd make Halloween my start for the true "jonesing" for the gear. I'm positive I will upgrade as time goes by, especially in the summer when I know I'll have a much more higher paying job than what I do now. The first thing I definitely want to get is a better hat. I definitely know the one I have now is kind of flimsy.

Hey Grave,
I am from Philadelphia. My family is from Old City. I moved to Boston 10 years ago. My uncle went to Villanova.
I miss Philly: Italian Hoagies, WaWa, Yeungling Beer, Soft Pretzels, Pork Roll, Cheesteaks. Maybe I just miss the food!
That's a great collection of gear you have there, my friend.

Great looking gear. It works wonderfully together for the "look."
Don't shortchange that jacket either. Yeah, the pockets aren't correct... BUT it does have the bucket cuffs, a nice color, and the bottom isn't cloth/elastic like an A2, so it has a very Indy look to it.
And I've always liked the Tie addition, very LC!

GREAT looking outfit to date!! Keep improving, but right now you have captured the 'look', and that's all that matters.

Unfortunately I spent much more on my costume...but hey it was worth it. I was lucky enough to find someone selling their shirt, pants, and jacket on ebay got them all for $75. And seriously the shirt and pants are like pretty much dead on accurate and these are like original army pants and shirt, but I was shocked at how close they actually were. Then I got gloves, gun belt, belt, holster and leather strap from Todds, about $110. a cheap but good enough for me whip for $25, whip holder for $15, original never used MKVII for $50, a colt 1911 airsoft for about $25, and a Indy lighter for $30. I already had a hat, wanted to upgrade to possibly a Stedson, cause the one I have is the Disneyland one, but I pretty much blew my wad on everything else. I'll post a pic if I ever get around to taking one, in the end I was very pleased with how it all turned out though.

Sorry I'm late to this thread - this is usually just my ball of cheese...or mortadella (yeah, sorry, guys, but the mortadella I'VE had was NOT baloney...it had cheese bits in it)...
Definitions of MORTADELLA on the Web:
This sausage originates from Bologna. It has a distinctive pink color, and is studded with cubes of creamy fat and sometimes pistachios. It is usually thinly slices and eaten cold in sandwichesor as an antipasto with other cold cuts.
www.nonnalinaskitchen.com/tools/glossary.htm
Large, smooth textured pork sausage made with fats and spices.
www.contedisavoia.com/Glossary.asp
Mortadella is a finely hashed/ground heat-cured pork sausage with lard pieces, delicately flavored with garlic and anise seed and optionally with broken pieces of pistachio. Traditionally the pork filling was ground to a paste using a large mortar (mortaio) and pestle. Two Roman funerary stele in the archaeological museum of Bologna show such mortars. ...

Eww! Turns out those bits weren't cheese after all.
Either way, Mortadella AIN'T Baloney.
BACK ON TOPIC!

Can't agree with Strider more! (Even about the Ramen, MacNCheese, & PBJs...Strider, you and I must have some DNA in common, I lived on that for quite a while. But I changed colors.)
graven, you did an outstanding job! Forget 'starting' outfit...if you like it, and it's good to you, that's the only gear you'll ever NEED. WANT...now then, WANT is a different thing. Stick around, and you'll WANT more, trust me.

(Up until this month, the ONLY thing I'd spent serious money on was the Wested, I bought that right away. This month...over a year later, I finally upgraded my hat.
