How should I proceed with my collar?
Cheers.

The collar looks fine to me, although to be honest I didn't compare it to any screencaps from Raiders. I think it will look even better once the leather has been broken in and relaxed a bit. It looks a little stiff in your photos. To help get the collar to relax you ought to check out MK's advice in this thread:

My personal preference would be to go slightly smaller.
Thanks to TIE for the screencap.

Yup, I'm afraid that collar does look like the Flying Wing!
But you can't take heart from the fact that having looked at the pic KT posted, I've just realised my collar is not as small as I thought it was!

I really think it just needs some breaking in. Once it sits down and curls a bit, I don't think it will look that big. Check out this thread:

Read all the way down to the last post (or just skip to it), where Sergei posts a link to a method MK posted long ago regarding the collar...I'd say your collar looks a lot like the ones they were trying to fix, even though they were working on FS collars at the time, I think.

Well interesting so far. Just to point out this is the jacket I sent back and figuerd may as well have the collar trimmed. It just seams too wide for the Raiders look.

Jeff

So you did ask Peter to mod the collar on this?
Can't wait to see the 'AFTER' pictures, Jeff.
No, wait, I'll see it on the QM...crossing fingers for you.

Yeah, I asked Peter to trim about a 1/2 inch from the collar. Since he's making a new jacket I figured why not; I hate big collers on me. It's not like I need it to cover my ears if flipped up
I have a short neck if you know what I mean.

Jeff

Thing is, looking at that pic KT has posted, it's not just the width of the collars on these Raiders jackets that needs adjusting smaler, but look at the points on that collar
All the Wested Indy's I have seen have rounded points, mine included, which I'm guessing is actually a LC feature
Anyone have a Wested with a pointed collar?

I think that the sharp point is just the angle of the picture and the way to collar is wrinkled in that screencap. If I bend my collar a little bit it gives of the same effect of being pointier.

Dunno, looks like it's laying flat to me

I'm in danger of contradicting myself here, but there are obviously several different jackets used by Ford in the film, and seem to have quite different sized and shaped collars!
As I said I favour the smaller collar in the third image here.
All thanks to TIE again!
Poison Dates
Raven (Publicity shot)
Well of Souls
But Gobbler I do believe the collar you have there is too big.

I think we can believe our eyes. There are obviously many different jackets with different collars used in ROTLA. But I wonder why Wested made all this differences on each jacket. DidnĀ“t they use the same patterns for all jackets?

I am guessing that because the jackets were being made so quickly, minor differences weren't as important as major ones, so the collar being smaller half an inch wasn't as important as the jackets being ready. Illinois.

Jeff, I voted "no" cause to me the collar is not really that small in most of the shot that I like. And yours hasn't had time to develope it's own characteristics in the above shots. After the first rain that it's in, if you'll just work it into a nice shape while it's still damp it will pretty much stay that way. Watch the first scenes or RotLA, the collar it standing up through most of the whole South America shots..and it doesn't look small to me, as a matter of fact it looks the same size as my "off the rack" collar.

Try the archived 'MK magic collar fix'. Once you've made it behave itself using his procedure, I think you'll feel MUCH better about what you have on that jacket. Relaxed, it takes on the 'Raiders' look.

Yeah, what Michaelson said. When I bought my Wested, the collar was a stiff, airfoil-kind of thingy... I went the MK way and added some mild abuse of my own...
A couple of months old and babied jacket - stiff, stupid-looking collar...
... and later on, with distressing and softened , smoother-flowing collar.

Thanks for the extra pics
KT
Well I feel alot better about the size of my jackets collar
& agreed it seems the collar is only smaller in certain scenes.
That said, sorry
Gobler, but yours still looks majorly large in those pics

To add one point, after those pics were taken I found that the collar was not even folded down all the way. That added another inch
If you notice the collar height there is a lot of leather.

Can you say MUGSHOT?
I have an off-the-rack Wested Raiders, and quite frankly, I would have liked to have a smaller collar. Too big for my tastes.

Hey Rundquist nice to see you pop in. Perfect example of a good Raiders collar size you showed there. That just cements my decision in asking for a reduction.
Cheers,
Jeff
