This man is a genius ! I can't thank him enough.
I bought an old Dobbs fedora on eBay - you know the story, it looked good in the pictures and I paid way too much for it.
When it arrived, it was so tapered that it looked like Chico Marx's hat and the sweatband had dried out and cracked thru.
Fedora came to my rescue. A clean up and reblock took care of the taper and he fitted a new sweatband and liner. It now looks like Paul Muni's hat in Scarface !
Take a tip from me. If you buy a fedora that's a clunker, let Fedora breath on it - he can work miracles !

:-k I have an old Dobbs fedora too that fits your exact description in condition! Its highly highly tapered and the sweatband is all messed up, even torn in the front with sweat stains all over the liner. Maybe Fedora can work his magic on it.

I just want everyone to know that I knew him before he became famous. He was a great guy then and the fame hasn't changed him, he's still a great guy, it hasn't gone to his head.

I had Steve work on a couple of my hats long before he opened up his own shop. Great work, through and through! That said, I understand Art Fawcet does amazing reblock and refurb work on vintage fedoras, too. Anyone know the latest on Art?

I think Art is building his new house and hatshop out in Oregon. I have not talked to him lately, but I heard he was getting close to opening up shop once again. He is a great guy, and loves the vintage hats, as well as making them. I highly recommend him. He also has the same philosophy as myself on pricing. Make them as affordable as possible. I like Art for that as it is a rarity in this business. He does not try to shaft you. I can't say enough good things about him.

Ok, guys, cut out this fan club stuff. It is embarrassing!!  My main intent was to provide a high quality Indy fedora, that was as accurate as I could get it, and at a reasonable price for the materials used. With Marc opening up the European AB line, new sources may be found of even higher quality things like sweats and liners. I will incorporate this into the American line as well, and the breed gets even stronger. That is what Marc and myself are all about. We want the highest quality hats available, and at the cheapest price possible. We will continue to live by this philosophy. Thanks for the kind words!! You guys must stop saying all of those nice things. My hats are all gettin' a bit too tight. Fedora

An update on Art Fawcett. Just got off the phone with him. His house is almost complete, along with his brand new natural lighted hatshop. He has a piece of paradise up there in Oregon. Can't wait to see the photos. He also said he has big plans with his new hatmaking business. He will be working on getting his own felt made, in his own special vintage colors, with some more surprises that he will mention himself as he gets ready to make hats once again. Art does it for the same reason Marc and I do it. We love hats, and we really love making them. He bought a huge load of vintage ribbon, in vintage colors and will feature this on all of his hats. So, there's the update on Art, for the folks here that know Art. regards, Fedora

And the really neat thing about all this is that he only lives about 3 hours away from me. I know where I'll be driving numerous times throughout the year.

Thanks for the update, Fedora! I was wondering how his new home was coming along. I have an uncle who lives in Oregon. It's incredibly beautiful out there!

Yeah fedoralover, Art told me last night you had offered to help move and arrange his hat shop when the time comes. Looks like he got some friendly COW members' help!! When he told me that, I said, man, we sure have lots of nice folks at COW. And fedoralover is at the top!! Fedora

Steve thats what I love about you. A humble man that helps others and does not need to toot his own horn like some hatters do!

Toot your own horn??

Strider, great piece of work, my friend. :D

Fedora, the only hat that I own is an Akubra. Having said that, I have heard nothing but praise about the Adventurebilt. I am stunned every time I see a picture of one of your fedora's. I continue to be astounded at the quality and workmanship that you produce.

I consider you to be a top class guy and I've never forgotten the lovely PM on my birthday.

You my friend are a legend in the Indyfan community. :notworthy:

 Well, thanks!! I am just another Indy fan who wanted to provide a better hat and a better price to my friends here. I got tired of spending big bucks on Indy fedoras that were made out of decent felt. I just made a hat out of the materials and block shape that I would personally spend money on. That is all. And, I am proud of what I am making nowadays. Will I get better? I certainly hope so!! The thing about this hobby is I am always looking for something better. And, when it appears, you will reap the benefits!! I am certainly not stagnant, and Marc's efforts on finding even higher quality materials will only make the brand better. Thanks again!! Fedora

Wait'll you try one on at the QM, Stella. ;) You'll get a lot of chances there.
