Question about Temple sizing.

Hello one and all. I have decided to get another jacket and it will be a Temple of Doom jacket from Wested. I already have a raiders one and need do ask this question. Do I need to make the length one inch longer than the Raiders one to make it screen acurate or will Peter do that for me? Any help would be great thanks in advance.

Peter adds the inch when you order it as a Temple jacket and not a Raiders jacket. So as long as he knows that - and from experience, you know he will, since you put it on your order form. Don't worry about it!

Exactly. What McFly says is right - Peter has 3 models. Raiders, Temple and LC. Ask for the Temple and you will get the jacket made to the TOD specifications, one of which is the length difference.

how far over your belt line should the raiders be?
I have a sneaky suspicion mine is 1.5 inch too long.

Looks like over an inch or more (also note its pulled back over his shoulders a bit in this shot). For me I like it as close to being at the belt line as possible.

Yeah i agree, looks like I am too long, something else to fix when I speak to the guys at wested.
When wearing the bag it tend's to ruffle up a bit too much.
thanks ken.

Here's some pics of a couple of my jackets:
The first pic is one of the first Westeds that I ordered, basically off the peg without any real research into length and fitting. For months I had the feeling it was too long, so I eventually found this site whilst investigating the correct 'Raiders' length.
This is almost the end result of my obsession, it looks better and fits better over gear, and is more 'Raiders'.

Deval is that the same jacket altered or a new one with a new length?

Ken, it's a new one, thought I'd go with dark goat, the first is authentic lamb. I will get round to selling it one day, I have more Wested jackets than Peter at the moment

Deval, can I ask you to do some daylight side by side comparison shots for the two please? Not just for length but for colour and grain!

Will do, just after 'the game' and quite dark here now (can't believe they red-carded Beckham), so I will get them done for you tomorrow.

I like the dark brown goat myself. The one I have is pretty indistinguishable from authentic brown (except it distresses better). I guess I got a lucky batch.

I'm with you Ken, the goat soften up so it ends up preyty much like the lamb, but much tougher, I prefer the darker look too, plenty of wear will soon bring some lighter colour into the coat.

Yea, I love the goat. I've had my authentic brown goat for almost a year now, and it just jeeps getting better and better.

I love my goat (jacket that means
) as well. It's a dark brown ToD. I like the colour although it's slightly darker than on screen. But in different lights, the jacket looks very cool! I got a brown jacket on a summer's day, but also a very dark one at evening. I love it!

hah wow, almost had a heart attack:
I saw you pics and decided to try on my Wested again, to make sure, but when I did it seemed even longer than your 'long' one! I started to get a pic and make a 'should I send it back' thread but realized it was only long because I was bending over to look as I put it on... standing up straight my jacket seems pretty close to the right length :c)
by the way how did you get it shorter though, did you just request a shorter length?

I had a similar situation with my first few Westeds. On my current one, I requested the length so it became more tradional Raiders length.

Yeah, I requested a shorter length, about an inch shorter than standard. The first pic was a 38L though, so it was 2 inches too long.

Most of the Westeds I see are too long to be Raiders jackets IMO. I think you need to request Peter make them a little shorter to be more accurate. (Even my 42 REG is a little long for my taste).
Interestingly thoughh look how SHORT the jacket appears in Temple of Doom in this pic.
and how LONG it appears on some shots in Raiders.

Goes to show there are exceptions to every "rule" and they obviously used various jackets in different sizes.

that's the size of my temple jacket and to me that's perfect (probably a bit long for raiders - but im 100% happy with the length)

I think the jacket length may be an illusion. It seems like in Raiders, harrison is wearing the pants a lot higher than he was in temple. Look how the pants sag over his boots. They are quite lower on his waist in Temple. Thats just what i can see.

Exactly, I was thinking the same thing. Also, remember that in ToD soem of the jackets were made by a French company, so that may also account for the length differences.
I've also noticed that in some pics the ToD jackets appears quite trim fitting like the Raiders jacket. However, in other pics it looks more baggy.

At the End of TOD right before Indy returns the sankara stones his jacket looks Short but right before he wraps Willie with the Whip is Jacket s long. Who knows.

Thank you, kind sir!
Wow, what a difference in colour! Look's very good. It has that slightly redder tone to it.

The dark brown is really good, I'll never go back to authentic, it looks too chocolatey. The photo actually captures the colours spot on too, more by accident than design though

I have 2 Indy jackets - One in the authentic and the other in the dark-brown. Both are a VERY nice leather jacket, when it comes to their color.
Out of the two, I think that I prefer the dark-brown shade. I, personally, see a dark-brown jacket when I watch the films (even though we know that they were a lil' lighter in color, but seen darker on film). But also, I just enjoy a darker color when I wear a brown leather jacket. The dark-brown, has enough "brown" to it it to obviously see that it is indeed a "brown" leather jacket. Heck, in some lighting, it looks kinda like the "authentic" brown color.
For me, personally, the dark-brown is perfect to what I tend to see on screen, and I personally wouldn't want my Indy jacket (or any brown leather jacket in general) to be any lighter in color than what the dark-brown is.
I'm not attacking the authentic color by any means, lol, I have both and enjoy wearing both shades of brown. I just enjoy the dark-brown as my personal favorite also.
Kindest Regards,
Captain D
