Greetings all, have not been around too much, happy owner of Goat Wested for over 2 years now. I had cruised by Ebay and noted that "Wested" had 19 available "Raiders" in goat. He noted they were your standard coat sizes and the price is just a shade cheaper than a custom order, I forget maybe $12. However, seems as if Peter has these "ready" to ship    you could have yours by Holloween! By the by, my goat is outstanding after 2 plus year it shows very little wear actually about all is just the desired absence of that new look. I do faithfully condition twice a year but I use the jacket a lot Peter does good work! Don't dis me here  but I plan to get one of his Memphis Bell A2's anyone familar with the nose art?

That's interesting, I wonder if the nose art depicted on the site is included in the cost of the jacket as listed, or for that matter, the patches or name tags pictured. I rather doubt it, since the artwork can get pretty expensive, but I've been wrong about Wested before. :-k

I got my current Raiders goat from Peter via ebay. It arrived in about two weeks. This is an especially sweet deal for guys like me that need a 48 jacket. If you go through the site anything over 46 is like $30.00 higher. This ebay deal, it's a flat price, 38thru48!

I assume that the ebay wested jacket is 80's cut correct and come with an inside pocket? I may just get one of these. :D

No, mine is not 80's cut. Does have the stanard inside pocket, though.

the eBay ones are not 80's cut, just a plain standard cut without any mods like X box stitching. They have one inside pocket and D-rings.

Yup. That sums it up nicely :D

What exactly is the Xbox stitching? I did a few searches but I didn't come up with anything specific. Any help?

Xbox stitching means that the sidestraps are stitched with a box that has an x inside it. Here's a pic:

Ahh that looks simple, I wonder if I could do that stitching myself. I wonder why it doesn't come standard. :-k

The standard is a box without the x.

Thank you VP, I ordered one of these last night and I'm getting just about everything I wanted minus 80's cut and the xbox stitches now that I see what they are! :P I just didn't want to wait a month for my jacket to turn out when I would have minimal modifications.

Actually, from the description it seems that you have to pay extra to get it *without* the art on the back.

I guess I need a lesson in using ebay having never used it before. :)

Where exactly are you seeing the "Memphis Bell A2" jacket description that you're referring to, or the Memphis Belle A2 jacket itself for that matter? I only see it on Wested's site, which shows the artwork on both the A2 and the B3. The ebay url does not appear to show the artwork (at least the one I found) on the B3, nor does it show the A2 at all:

Memphis Bell

 Not to confuse the Memphis Bell Jacket was NOT on Ebay just on the "Wested" site. I was just sort of looking through Ebay I have a "few" things I routinely keep an eye out for but "Indy" stuff is not really one of them. However, I plugged "Indy" in and was just surprised to find the Wested site and it just seemed like some good information to pass along here as others are often waiting for their jackets. Mine was a custom job and half the fun is the emails to Peter (with all due respect, if you can't cover all the bases with Peter in about three emails tops you should consider pest control). I'm short with broad shoulders so "off the shelf" does not always work for me.

To the original point the A2 is also a classic. If you think "Gear-head's" are obsessive (and some are) check out the A2 freaks! These guy know zippers and buttons, month of manufacture the name of the mother of the horse the hide came off of. I'm not too sure where Wested comes down just yet on the authentic scale but one, I'm not too concerned for absolute WWII accuracy and two, my TOD is one great jacket Peter's work is outstanding and his prices are excellent for what one gets(myself, next time I would get a American zipper, sorry I'm a Yank  ) I'll have to find out from Peter if they make the A2 in "Horse" as that would be the appropriate choice in this jacket, although not the only leather used. I'm too broke now from my summer trip to Europe (yes I was in London but did not have enough time to go to Wested-yes dear I know they are the Crown Jewels, but I know this guy who made me that Indy jacket and........) So as I find out more if anyone cares I can pass it along on the A2. If you want to find a jacket to really become obsessive about with  LOTS  of history and for big bucks the A2 has quit a fan club. A man can't have too much leather--should I mention the Schott motorcycle jacket? It was good enough for Brando in the Wild Ones - now lets see did his have the "pistol" pocket or the "cig" pocket --one snap in the back-- looked like steer???

Did any of you guys who ordered the Ebay wested ever get a shipping confirmation? Its been about three days now since I placed an order and I haven't gotten one yet. Or does the actual auction itself have to end before he gets to the orders. :-k

I'm kind of hoping they've sent the jacket but don't send out confirmations for everyone since its almost been a week since I placed the order and its just kinda motionless. :|

Just email peter through ebay, and ask him whether or not its been sent, Gemma has said that they are very busy, and I had to email her for confirmation of my goat I ordered last month. Sent out on the fourth, I email her and got confirmation on the 10th, so as you can see they are slow. Illinois

Wow just as I went to send him a message they gave me a positive feedback! :D I think thats a good sign.

Hey. Can I correct you. Gemma was not slow in replying, she was on vacation for a week and I was up to me to cover. However I only answered the urgents and left the rest for her return. So blame me.
Cheers

Mine moved pretty darn quick. I don't think the customs waits (nor charges) are anywhere near as bad here in the US as some of our fellow gearheads in other countries have it. Sounds like in Canada your best bet is to have it delivered to Michigan. ;)

About how long does it actually take to go through customs. I imagined days of agonizing torment! It could be out of customs already for all I know, just the tracking service hasn't updated yet.

Customs seems to be random. At least thats my experience. I never recieved any charges on my jacket. In fact I had no idea that my jacket was on the way, until it showed up at my house one morning. Needless to say it was a pleasant surprise after waiting 3 months. :)
