My New Gray Adventurebilt -Last Crusade

Hello Everyone,
Here is my latest acquisition, a gray Adventurebilt Beaver, bashed Last Crusade style by Fedora. I was going for the Venice Pier look and I am very satisfied with the results. (If you click on these, they will get bigger.)
Indiana Jones had Ilsa and I have... well...
The gray felt is very fine and soft. Fedora put a bit more stiffener in this one because he knew I was intending it as a dress hat.
Inside, it has the clear plastic over the Adventurebilt emblem, which is very classy and the satin elsewhere. The sweatband is the same high quality as my other two Beaver ABs.
Here is a picture of the top dent (On Indiana Spielberg's head).
So, Prairie J, Whaccha Think???
I welcome all of your comments.
Fedora, thank you once again, my friend, for a wonderful hat. You really outdid yourself with this one. I could not be happier.

That is one sharp looking hat Hemingway!
I've been wanting a grey AB for sometime now, and I think you've finally pushed me over the edge.
Now, I just have to remember where I left the extra $250 I had lying around.

Great!! Now I need a new hat!!!!
That hat looks fantastic!! It goes great with the suit. Steve has done it again.
It's weird, but in that last picture, it looks gray.
Anyway, you have chosen wisely.

Holy smoke, Dr. Jones! That thing is the color of my trenchcoat, which is a color I have wanted in a fedora FOREVER!!
Fantastic!
Great, now I have to sell a kidney or something...

Thank you very much, gentlemen, and bink
for your comments. This is my new favorite hat. I cannot get enough of it. I keep wearing it around my house.
Prairie, I'm not sure if you were kidding, and I am inclined to think that you were, but just in case, and for anyone else who might have missed it, the hat is indeed gray.
And Spatterdash, my trench coat is also a light gray!

Hemingway,
Dude, that is one AWESOME looking hat.
Thanks for the pics - I've been wondering about that bash.
Very cool to see different angles of the front.
Congratulations !

Congrats. A great looking hat H.J.!

It says:
"Adventurebilt Hat Co.

Thank you everyone. This hat is awesome.

Hemingway's initials are punched on the other side of the sweatband.

Actually, that was true of the other sweatbands on my other ABs. On this one, Fedora put my real first name (which is very short) and last initial. It's very spiffy and goes with the overall dress hat theme.
Kaleponi, I am beginning to agree with you. I am really getting into the LC hat. "Yes, I understand its power now."

Hey congratulations my friend!!! Can't wait to see that incredible LC hat going around here in Florence
Wow! What a lid!

Hey Hem
that is one terrific lid
Congratulations indeed! I can see why it's becoming your new favourite.
I was curious though...have you measured any of dimensions in comparison to your Raiders? I know the LC is a #60 block which is abit different from the Raiders but I wondered if there were any differences in the brim dimensions. Are you intending to do any adjustments on the bash or brim?
It just seems so funny that this week...I've been seriously considering exactly the same hat, style and bash for exactly the same purposes. Grey opens up so many other clothing options for work.
Every man must have a grey lid!
Hey Bink...last one to Steve's is a rotten egg!!!
I know its grey but you've got to have a vest for that hat!
I'm already boxing up the live beaver for Steve right now! Man its hard find a grey Beaver!!!
Unlike last time I intend to put holes in the box, provide food and a small WC.

Wow Hem! That new hat looks fantastic on you!
Grey is a perfect colour for a Fedora, if you don't want the obvious "Indy"-look.
That hat suits you very well, Hem. Congratulations!

Kilgour, my friend,
Thank you for the positive comments. I have not done any measurements on the crown or brim, but you are certainly right that the block is slightly different than the Raiders block, as it would need to be. I honestly don't know what the crown or brim of a LC should be; I only know that, to my eye, this pretty much nails it.
As for the adjustments, well, I think if one were going for exactitude for the look of the hat as it appeared in the brief Venice Pier walking over the bridge with Elsa scenes, I could put a little more flip into the sides of the brim and pull the front down, to get that snap brim effect. I have that, but not to the extent of Indy's. This is something I will do by using bookends on either side of the hat, as I have described in another thread. I will put that curl in the side of the brim on the right side and leave the left as is, or it will look too much like wings. I don't want to be mistaken for "The Flying Nun!"
The front pinch of the Last Crusade hats varies. I like it just the way it is and will keep it this way. It is beautifully crafted and evokes that look perfectly.

I couldn't agree more. This is exactly the reason why I got this hat.

Nice looking AB, HJ. I love mine as well, and have been wearing it for a couple months now. VERY soft felt, as compared to the brown beaver AB's.
I wish all of the Winchester beaver felt was this soft.

Wow. It must be very soft. I can't imagine anything softer than my beaver brown.

Is Fedora's grey felt supply from a different source than his brown?

No. They're all sourced from the Winchester Hat co. felter....just some reason they use less stiffiner in the gray felt. Not sure why.

Maybe the batch that my hat came from had less stiffener than the usual brown. The crown is very soft, and the brim is nice and floppy, yet retains it's shape. I love it.

I know that Steve was going to try and talk to them about this when I got my hat....I wonder if he was successful, considering how soft yours was right out of the box, praire?

Thanks, Flyer. The liner on this is extraordinary. I have heard of liners like this on vintage hats, but I have never seen one.

Uh, Oh! Not another brush fire!
Thanks, K. It is a brownish gray.

Goodness me. I thought I was going to fall off of my chair when I saw those pics.
Firstly, the hat looks incredible and it's very nice to see it in grey. Secondly, you look incredibly handsome in the suit and it goes incredibly well with the hat. Thirdly. It's great to see an Adventurebilt fedora shaped into the Last Crusade look.
