Another review of Todd's basic holster:PICS

Man, what an outstanding holster! I can't believe he's letting these go for $19.95. The construction is top-notch, same for the leather and the hardware. The only detail you might miss from the screen-accurate deluxe model is the grooves, but honestly I never really see them on screen, anyway. Except for the close-up when Indy surrenders his revolver to Belloq, they just kinda disappear into the dark, distressed leather. I know some people thought it might be a "costume" piece, not really meant for real-world use. Don't worry about that, this thing is RUGGED! The leather is 3/16" thick, but just working it in your hands for a few minutes softens it up considerably and instantly provides a beautiful creased, well-worn look. The color is a sort of "pumpkin", almost identical to the Keppler holster pictured on the main site. I took a few pics, but I've already distressed it. I wouldn't have thought it possible, but it looks even BETTER! I darkened it up a bit, scuffed it and outlined where I intend to add the grooves. If you need pics of it in "new" condition, check Hemingway's review. He took some really nice pics of his right out of the box.
This really is an awesome piece. If you're looking for a great "Raiders" holster but just can't bring yourself to lay down $80.00 like me, DO NOT miss this one! You simply can't go wrong here.

Shawnkara,
That looks awesome! You did a great job distressing it. I also think the drawn on grooves look great. I might just do that.
After seeing yours, I think I'll give mine a bit more polish.
Also, I couldn't agree more that everyone needs one of these. For $20, you should get one if only to have it as a back-up. It is a great holster.

That looks awesome, I was going to get a TAG gunbelt and holster but since they closed they're doors I've been looking at other choices. Does anyone know a few good sources for various gunbelts? Even a close enough?

Yep I just ordered the basic holster and a couple of web belts last night from Todd’s. I can easily finish off the holster with the grooving, plug and a redeye job myself. All in all a nice deal with high quality product.
Cheers,
Jeff

Great idea on the grooves, Shawnkara.

Mine arrived today - it's fantastic! It had to stretch a little to accomodate that airsoft (which is pretty hefty) but I think a day or so in the holstor and it'll be a good fit. The web belt is great, too...
I just can't get over the quality of these things at such a low price - thanks SO much, Todd, for filling the need!

What airsoft? (to gauge size, and I'm considering ordering a 20 dollar 1911 Colt replica airsoft when my holster gets here)

It's pretty hefty - a four-inch barrel magnum, heavily modified to look more like an Indy gun.

Can somebody tell me how I would create the grooves?
