Custom jackets?

Post by Indiana Tim »

Hi there. I was just wondering: do Wested make custom, non-Indiana Jones leather jackets?

Define your definition of custom.

They made jackets for many movies, and they can also be ordered. You can look at their selection on their website.

From there, you can customize your jacket removing a few features, adding a few changes....as long as it doesn't dramatically alter the appearance of the jacket(they do this so that if you end up not liking the jacket or have a problem, they can still sell it off).

If you want them to make a jacket just for you....I suppose that's possible, but it might be mighty expensive. These people work with the likes of Spielberg, so it won't come cheap.

Soory, when I say custom I mean a replica of the Doctor's jacket from the new series of Doctor Who.

They do a Doctor Who. Don't advertise it though. Not sure why. Last time I was there in June they'd made and shipped a few already.

Now I haven't seen it, I've seen others of their long WWII type coats but not with the trademark arm straps and half belt on the back. Best ask for some pics to make sure they have the coat as you want it. Write to Gemma.

Due to the amount of leather involved it will be more expensive than a Indy. Also they don't have a "distressed black cowhide" so it is either brand new black cowhide or "distressed brown cowhide". Actually you could probably get it done in any of the leathers they carry but for the right drape thicker would look more accurate!

Good luck let us know how you get on.

PS. There is a group called Bad Wolf making a replica (Might even have commissioned it from Wested!) but it costs £330! The Wested is a lot less. Have a search for Dr Who Jacket and Bad Wolf. I know nothing about them so caveat emptor.

WOW post 200! Yey.

I am still waiting for Wested to replicate the Rocketeer jacket. Does anybody know if Wested has canceled this project or will it come some day?

Regards

Here's an idea for you, LC. Post something in the QM event string to Bogie1943. Ask if he'd be willing to compile a list of questions for Peter to answer while he's there on the ship for the event.

That sounds like a good question that the MAN can answer himself, if he has the time. :-k

I was just talking about this to a Rocketeer guy over the weekend and he thinks it's pretty much a done deal. They have another source for the jackets now.

Westeds MI:2 jacket is fantastic. If are ever looking for another Westy, this one is definately worth considering:

You might also want to take a look at this, if you are thinking of modifications, something custom, or their Dr Who isn't EXACTLY what you were thinking of.

In this thread a JerseyJones asked them to create basically an entirely new LONG coat, just w/ Indy-ish stylings:

Wested actually created the jacket for the series, so I'm sure they can do it. If I had the extra cash, I'd love to get that jacket, too. I'm sure there's a lot Wested has done for movies and television that we don't even know about! (By the way, Rob, do we have to wait for spring when the next season's due? )

That's odd, because the BBC website for the series says that the jacket was an old jacket that they found in a second hand store, manufacturer unknown. Oh well, I'll just have to contact Wested to find out.

I'll report back with my progress on this.

The history of this jacket is a little cloudy. The official Beeb line is it is from an old secondhand shop. The unofficial line I have hear is that Peter made it for Das Boot, it ended up at Angels and was picket up from there by the costume dept.

The "New" David Tennant costume can be seen on the BBC site, no leather at least not after the 1st ep or 2 it's a long brown coat, his shoes will be easy to replicate they are Converse All Stars!

Something I noticed the other day, is the drinking opponent in the Raven wearing Colin Bakers Jacket? :)

Interesting, Kt.. I'd gladly be proven wrong. And actually, that IS Collin Baker in the Raven bar! He had just been fired and needed to get good and soused!

Sounds good! What is the source for the Rocketeer jacket then? Is it already made or just planed to make it?
