Here is a picture of me in my first Indy fedora. I just got it Saturday but waited until now to post about it because I didn't want to be harassed for not having a picture.

Sorry the picture is so huge. Yes, I was trying to mimic my avatar and no, my eyes aren't really that color. I'm very happy with the hat and my only regret is that I bought it before I knew about the Adventurebilt. I think I'll order one to and then use this as my rain hat or something. Here is also a picture of my web belt I got from Slodier City.

It seems to be of great quality and I'm very pleased with it as well. Just one question though, am I wearing it backwards? I don't know what that spill is on my pants, must have been something I had for dinner that night.
I'll keep posting pics of my gear as it arrives and look forward to hearing what you guys think!

Just as an update I already ordered my Adventurebilt from Steve. I got beaver and can't wait to get this great hat. Reading everything you guys have written about the ABs has my mouth watering in anticipation. =P~

No it's not backwards. That is the way the military web-belts are worn in all 4 branches...except for the fact that it needs to be trimmed down to meet AFR 35-10.

Indy's is un-trimmed. It hangs down from the first belt-loop.

Nice hat, Junior.

Well, Old Sport, I was merely commenting that I believe that Junior was trying to emulate Indiana Jones and not AFR 35-10, wherever that non-sequitor came from. But, if you choose to take that personally, then, I suppose, the next drink is on me.

Nothing personal about it whatsoever, just making ribbing conversation.

I was in the Marines and that is not the way the web belt is worn. It is backwards in that picture and the alignment is off.
Good looking hat, though.

Fedoraman,
Don't forget to fill out form ID10 Tango

Junior,
Nice hat, but I don't think that stain on your pants is screen accurate.

What do we all mean when we say "backwards" ? It looks like it's headed the same direction as Indy's here... or do those in military service units wear theirs so that the excess hangs off to their left?

Hat looks good man, and nice find on that belt!

In Christ,
Shane

Looking down, the buckle is on your left, the tongue (other end of the belt) is on the right.

But PraireJones, it sounds like you are saying the Marines keep their buckle on the right? So the tongue feeds through from the left side? I never knew that.

Regardless, ^Jr has it correct for Indy (unless that is a shot off of a mirror). See the belt pics on the main page:

No!!!!
Correction. I am 100% incorrect in that. The belt in the picture is correct. Somehow I had a major brain fart!!! I will now proceed to do push-ups until I puke. It's okay, I've done it before.
At least I can tag you center-chest from 500 meters.

I am very confused now. Does Indy's belt go the opposite way?

I was almost about to pull up the link for the gig-line, but the Jarhead figured it out...

AFR 35-10? Where have you been? AFR 35-10 is now AFI 36-2903. :-)

Well - it was 35-10 when I got out in '94, they also still had C-141B's back then...

Well, now that we got that figured out, I'll go back to crawling through the mud and you guys can continue playing volleyball.
Sincerely,

PS I love hearing you guys overhead.

Ah, yes, the C-141. Mighty fine plane. That was my first ever ride in a jet (1968?), from McGuire AFB.

McGuire AFB is close to my heart. It is about 45 minutes outside of Philadelphia where I am from. I had friends in Pemberton, which is close, and I learned to fear the MPs who could ticket you for driving 1 mph above the speed limit on the public road that goes through it!

I grew up near McGuire. I grew up in Cumberland County, near the Pine Barons - Vineland.

I know Vineland. I am from Philadelphia. My folks live in Burlington County, NJ now. I know that area very well. We vacationed in Wildwood Crest. How about you?

(OK, this is from a running cadence I heard Marines sing when I lived overseas ... modified slightly)
Running through the jungle and what do I see?
Ten little monkeys are a lookin' at me.
They all start laughin' and I figured out why ...
So I fixed my web belt and pulled up my fly.

Count 'em out, Prairie. 1!, 2!, 3! ...

Best Regards,

Yeah, okay, a web belt worn weird...who made the hat?

The hat is made by Peters Brothers. I didn't mean to start a belt controversy but looking at that picture made it look weird to me. Guess I'm just too used to seeing it in the mirror. After looking that does appear to be the way indy wears his belt (excess hanging to the wearer's left)
