Alden and their sizes (again)

I just missed a pair of Aldens on ebay, brand new and only $150 because I have no idea what size to look for.
So if you have a pair in size 7.5 or 8 or 8.5 or 9 will you measure the inside length from toe to heel, it would really be a great help.

This is the problem I have to. I'm going to try and get a pair from ebay but I have no idea what size wide I need.
And K, I love that quote to.

If you go to an actual shoe store - not a mall shoe store - they will measure you in order to let you try on the right size shoe. Just be real curious about the sizing.
I played w/ the sizing thingy in a mall shoe store (where they couldn't be bothered to help anyone), then once I understood the concept of the to length, arch/instep length (which nobody uses), and width (basically A to F, plus stuff way narrower and wider than those ranges), I went to a local Red Wings store (a REAL shoe store).
I now knew enough about the sizing to know she got it right, and she sold me some boots. But now I know my size, and could have just gone on to eBay.
You might be a little off on the width because some makes run narrower or wider, but so long as you got the overall size (length) right and are w/in one grade on the width, you should be able to fit whatever you pick up online.

Having my feet measured professionally will definitely help but it would still be nice to know just how long is Aldens in size 7, 8 or 9. The opinions, on going down 1/2 a size or not, is many so knowing the precise length will be a great help.

Ken is right! ####### right. I bought recently a pair of Aldens 47 that's my size but i could have bought a 46 no problem since they are slighly larger. Anyway they are really ok, i mean i can walk normally also if they are a little larger.
Wonderful boots!!!!!

My pleasure K. As you can see on the alden website, European 43 equal a US 9. But for Alden 405 an half size under is perfect.
(for me at least)
