Robert Duke Hurricane RITA
I had an e-mail from Robert yesterday updating me on my whip, he is part way through it at the moment. He also added his concern like many others with regards to Hurricane Rita, as many of you may know he lives near Houston (not sure where exactly). I hope he and everyone else in the area keep safe during this difficult time.
Best wishes to all.
Jon

My daughter, date_eating_monkey, and son-in-law William, live just outside Houston and can't get out due to the gridlock, so needless to say, we're keeping a VERY close eye on the situation.

I wrote to Rob MacGregor last night about his new book The Fog, and the hurricane, and he wrote back:
On the Indy front, he had this to say:We've been fortunate in Palm Beach County this year related to hurricanes. Two more months of the season to go.
I'm about to leave for Boston where Bruce Gernon and I will be appearing this evening on CN8, a New England cable TV channel, to talk about THE FOG. I'm glad you're enjoying the book.
Simultaneously, my agent is in NYC talking to an editor at Ballantine Books about my participation in INDY4. I'd love to adapt the script as I did with The Last Crusade. We'll see. Keeping my fingers crossed.
Best of luck to Robert during this. Hope the horse is OK.
As to the OTHER Robert, (McGregor,) I was initially hoping that he'd have more input into Indy IV PERIOD. I was hoping he'd write the plotline that they'd then do a screenplay for.
Rob's a great writer, and I think he understands the Indy character better than anyone else in Hollywood right now, (George Lucas, sadly included.)

Please pardon my bluntness, but considering what I wrote above, at the moment I could care less about what Rob McGregor is doing. I'm sure my opinion will change immensely after the storm has passed Houston, and I find out that my family has made it through ok. Please accept my apologizes in advance.

My apologies as well. It wasn't until after I had hit "Submit" that it dawned on me how insignificant my comments were in relation to the true subject of this thread.
Not only off topic, but totally insensitive. I'm sorry.
All the best to McGregor and his family, Michaelson, Duke, and anyone else who is in the area. We're all thinking of you.

I'll add my prayers for your family, Michaelson, and the other board members, vendors, and the rest of the extended COW family in the path or Rita.
I have a friend in Galveston, of all places, who was still trying to complete her SECOND trip out of there last night - she had to come back as there was simply not enough room in the trailer for all her animals the first time. The traffic was not a problem for her first trip out...I hope she's not stuck on the hwy w/ the trailer full of the second load of animals. She's a buddy of my dad's, so since his death last year we figure he's on full-time guardian angel duty - and right now I hope he's in Galveston. Extra prayers.
You let us know ASAP when you hear back from your family, Michaelson. (I see DEM was on COW this evening, even w/ the Goblin King!)

P.S. My apologies to offer support so late...was off the board all day. - J

I'm right there with you, Michealson! One of my absolute best friends and his family lives in Houston. I tried calling several times yesterday but got no answer. I'm hoping they evacuated okay. But as of this morning on the radio, it looks like it might not hit Houston as originally planned. Still keeping my fingers crossed!

My new sister-in-law just started her first year of college down in the Galveston area and had to evacuate earlier this week. She got to some friend's house about 4 hours away. I hope that is far enough away from the potential problem areas.
I add my thoughts and prayers to all those who will be affected by this storm. Stay safe.

Spoke to DEM last night. They're pretty much as ready as they can be. I 10 is a parking lot (they're on the outskirts of Houston), and they can't even get out of their condo parking lot to even TRY to go anywhere. It's been that way for the past 3 days.
Though not the best scenario, I believe they made the right decision, as what will happen to the folks who are stuck in their car in the gridlock when the storm DOES hit tonight! From what I saw on the news this morning, the traffic is STILL at a standstill.
Stay tuned, and thank you all for your prayers and support.
Oh, Jerry, she's still active on the forums and the like, as they moved most of the shop up to their apartment, and CONTINUE to work on stock for the Texas Ren Fair while watching the weather and news reports, and work the internet. Multi tasking! (grins)
Regards! Michaelson
