I only have a MKVII with TAG strap (which I just aquired last week) and web belt that is truly accurate. I have close enough boots J. Crew Ruggeds which I love and Fedora is making my AB! It took me two years also to get the gear I have now.

a question about the size of the bag - thought i'd post it in this thread

what's the biggest thing you can fit in it? I want to know if i could fit a4 pieces of paper or an a4 book in it? mainly for uni.

also - would it be able to fit a camera, lunch, small notepad, pens, wallet, phone, maybe a couple of other things all at once? im seriously thinking about getting one, however if it's not big enough to be really practical then i dont think i'll get one.

I can't even fit my lunch in a MKVi (indiana Travelproof). I don't think it's big enough to use for school or college. An A4 book will not fit.

Perhaps I need a smaller lunch.

:)

I fit my cellphone, a 10 cd wallet, a screwdriver, a small asprin bottle, some post it notes, a sharpie, and a water bottle. Using all the pockets.

I've managed to get a LOT in it while traveling...two phones (got wife), camera, snacks, paperwork, wallet, etc. It's all a matter of careful packing. ;)

Some folks even remove the middle divider, so you can put books/notebooks in it. Search around, you'll see. There are a lot of threads on 'what's in your MKVII?' :)

I carry a very small man in mine. I had to stop, though, because he would occasionally pop out and scream obscenities at people. Kept getting me in trouble.

Seriously, I use mine a lot when I travel, but I also carry it to classes that don't require books. A steno-sized notepad fits perfectly, plus I carry a pilot's survival flask (which fits absolutely perfectly into the deeper back pocket), my cell phone, various pens, pencils, highlighters, a few business cards, and a snack of some sort. Plus the odd assortment of items, like a listing of all of the In-n-Out Burger locations, digital camera, maps, etc.
