Chachapoyan Temple cobwebs

Post by AceTachyon »

As Indy runs away from the boulder in the temple, he plows through a whole mess of cobwebs just before diving out the temple entrance and down the slope.

I'm trying to recreate the look of Indy covered in the webbing by using the packages of stretchable Halloween webs (they even come with little spiders). IIRC, the webs covered his torso, arms, and hat.

Anyone know about how many packages it would take to do that?

Actually, you could probably get away easily with just one package. When you spread that stuff out thick enough (to the point it truly looks realistic) you'll find a little goes a long way.

I'll pick up a couple this weekend and try it out with one, see how it looks. I can use the 2nd pack for the actual event.

Thanks bink.

I never thought of using fake webs. One of my orange trees has so many webs on it I just pushed around my fed through the leaves until it looked right - honest. Wish I'd taken a picture of that, but there was beer involved...

...post pics when you are done, it'll be cool to see how you got it to come out.

I'll see about getting pics.

It's actually going to be a part of a larger "event"--a limited reenactment of the temple run and boulder chase starting with the film sequence and ending with me in full gear diving out of a hidden spot with whip and idol in hand, landing at my girlfriend's feet, and proposing to her.

Hence the question about the webs since Indy's covered with them when he dives out of the temple.

(For you DVD folks, it's track 3, 7:50 to about 9:00 minutes--which translates to: idol grab, temple run, boulder chase, and diving out of cave)

A little of the fake web does go a long way. One package should be enough for the "event" IMO.

Wow that is quite a way to propose. Good luck! Hope it all works out.

Yeah, one bag!!! I've had a lot of experience with that stuff....

Just strech it THIN!!!! You could actually get two people to help you, you stand in the middle in your gear and have the two people strech it, then pull it down over you.... Something along those lines would work well.

Good luck!

Best of luck, AceTachyon! :D :D :D

P.S.> Which idol? (Magnoli, Gobler, MK, etc.)

Best Regards,

I did that in 2001 and I had plenty of webs left over from one bag. I got it at a dollar store.

Wow! How incredibly romantic! Image

You have got to post some pictures.

Gee, I wish a guy would propose to me like that.

Yes, she's and Indy fan. Her favorite is Last Crusade. She got me the TOD and LC movie posters for Christmas last year and she got the Raiders Wested for me for my birthday this year.

I think she's gonna get a kick out of this.

Two people. Yeah, that's what I had in mind. Standing just off the wings.

And I've got thick couch cushions standing in for padding when I dive out from the wings.
