I just got my new David Morgan catalog in the mail today and noticed right away that the Morgan 455 Bullwhip is no longer listed.
Anybody with any insight. Has David finally decided to give his hands a well deserved break?
Well, on the bright side, at least the cost didn't increase.

I just got an eight footer from David about two and a half weeks ago. I had spoken to him myself, and he said that he was actually going to make my whip himself, as Megan was doing some other projects at the time. If this is a change in what he offers, it is a very recent change. If it is, then I decided to order one just in the nick of time.
Before I hit the submit button, I thought to run in and grab the catalog that was sent with my whip. It is the spring and summer 2005 catalog and it has the whips pictured on page 81. Which catalog are you referring to?

This has been on the horizon for a long time. David has been having trouble getting in the heavy roo skins at the quality that he wants for his 455 series bullwhips. The drought down under has really taken it's toll. He has very few of the heavy skins left and refuses to make the 455 out of anything less. It just wouldn't be his design. In addition, he tells me that a bone spur in his neck gives him horrible discomfort after a day of braiding. He was pretty certain that his days of making those whips are rapidly coming to an end. Besides his health issues, he really wants to concentrate on his next book and the whole whip thing is cutting in on that project. I don't blame him. If making a whip is just going to be a literal pain then what's the point?
I had no idea that the whips would be omitted from the new catalogue though. I was just in on Saturday and he didn't mention it. But I'm not surprised by it either. Just saddened.

Hi all,
For those of you that like me are big fans of Mr. Morgan's work, I'm pleased to report that we don't need to worry yet, as he'll keep making his bullwhips for some time.
I phoned him yesterday, and he told me the reason of why his whips are not in the catalog was mainly due to lack of space. His bullwhips will remain on the web site, and he also said he has some good skins to carry on for a while, in adittion to a batch of new hides that he is expecting in two week's time.
Lastly, he mentioned that even when he decides to stop braiding, his assistant Meagan will carry on in making the bullwhips, assuming he is able to get good quality kangaroo hides.
