Howdy!

There has been much discussion about the apparent difference between the HJ Poets I get vs. the HJ Poets sold elsewhere. Many have suggested that there are HJ is using two different blocks for their Poets. After seeing the pictures posted by Pagey I began to wonder myself. I inquired with HJ about this, and according to HJ wholesale manager, there is ONE block shape for the Poet, period. But "photos don't lie", right?

I did an experiment with my camera to see if photography could account for the apperent difference. The photos below are of the SAME HAT. I simply adjusted my angle and distance. I did not move the hat, I did not change the lighting, and I did no manipulation of the photos afterward except to re-size the photos for a better comparison.

Photo 1 is roughly the angle of Fedora's photo and photo 2 is roughly the angle of Pagey's photo.

I will let you be the judge, but my opinion is that the hats I get are the same as the ones Replix gets.

It is my opinion that the First one shows a bit of taper. Alot moer than the second one. It does look like they came off seperate blocks.

Remember, That is my opinion. In a previous post . Someone said that they had gone and purchased a Poet, personally. They said that the quaility has improved.

I will have to take Pagey's word on this one. He has seen and owned the German HJ. I personally cannot make a valid statement as I have never seen one in person. But, the angle and proximity to the object photoed does affect the look of the hat. And those above photos show this very well. But with that said, I personally like the block shape from Todd. It is identical to the LC block as seen on Indy, on the motorcycle chase, when his hat pops up open crown. Identical!! And with the exception of Mike's old HJ, this current blockshape is the best that I have seen on the various HJs that I have worked on over the years. And compared to what we used to have to pay for HJs, Todd has a great price on these hats. Another Indyfan helping out the folks. You guys need to recall that when you speak of Todd. He dropped the prices down and that is what I am all about!! A toast then to Todd, and he endeveor to bring us affordable HJs!!!
