Na, it's common. If you crunch the numbers, the fedora is "THE" gear item in terms of interest. The "fedora" and "Lao Che's Table" sections are the only two guaranteed to have something new every day.

Here you go, I just picked up a vintage 1940's horsehide jacket with sliders on the waist and bi-swing shoulders:
Just oiled it and have used it for motorcycling- no flapping in the wind on this one!

Woohoo! I can't wait for my lambskin Wested! The tracking says it left the origin country yesterday!
Off-topic, but but this is my A-2 with a pair of 40's Air Force pants:
I spontaneously took this picure when I woke up one day, so im missing the shoes and trimmings.

Sorry guys,
That jacket is an ORIGINAL horsehide from the early 40's. Found it on Ebay. It has most of the Indy features, plus the added zipper chest pocket. And SIXTY (that's 60) plus years of distressing!
Best part is it fits me like a glove.... and I know what you mean about wearing all those jackets, I counted like thirty in my collection. A mix of trench, frock, flight, leather, 3/4, dusters, military, motorcycle, and even a custom built Stargate SG-1 mission jacket by the old Flightsuits outfit.
I have an average build so stuff usually fits fairly well.
Guess jackets and coats are to me the same as shoes are to my girlfriend!

I agree Flattery. It's the occasional A-2 photo like this one that makes me appreciate my A-2 all over again. You do forget, and I like this visual reminders where we came from in this hobby, as most of us (me included) began 'life' in gear with an A-2.
I'll always keep at least one in the stable.

What is the original shade of brown colour? Obviously in those pics it looks like a start colour of dark brown, but as we know pics can be deceiving in colour I'm interested in a comparision to the stock Wested colours if possible 
& if you don't mind me asking...
What size is the jacket
What condition is the lining in
Any damage overall
& how much was it
Since seeing the vintage jacket 1930's Rick snagged, my interest in these original jackets is very high

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you, I just got back from New Mexico...

Yes, Flightsuits produced a G-8 WEP jacket and you could get it in Nomex, Nylon, or Polycotton (now called Mountain cloth, I think).
Some folks from Stargate Command.NET were having the custom specs sent in about the same time I was in San Diego. I walked into the factory and they thought I was one of the Internet costumers. I said no I just wanted a Stargate SG-1 field jacket built and they said they already had the specs on hand so it would be no problem. I wanted to supply my own ripstop cotton but they need certain size rolls of fabric to fit their machines, so I had to go with the SAGE color polycotton, which is identical to Milspec flightsuits that I wore during my helicopter crewchief days.
The jackets used on the show (after the pilot episode- those were stock nylon WEP jackets in the two part premiere) have several differences from the G-8 WEP jacket.

The color of the horsehide looks very close to my Authentic brown lambskin Wested. My Wested is at work, so I can't do comparison pics yet, but they look like twin jackets. This horse is a 42 regular with a faded silk orange quilted liner that is quite intact. Just a few strands of thread coming out of the quilted areas. The sleeves are perfect which is suprising as I wear a 32 sleeve. After using the Bee oil on it the fit is getting customized to my frame.
No damage to the hide, but the concealed inner cuffs are getting thin and catch on my G-Shock. These jackets were built to last and have held up well over the decades. Check the Lost Worlds site for some background on vintage leathers.
I picked it up for around three hundred, but only due to a bidding war with one other person. The seller was suprised that it did not go for four to five hundred. His auction title was obscure and I think most jacket hunters may have skipped over it.
