The Akubra Fed and Fed deluxe?

I know what the difference of these two hats are, but does anybody have both? How different are the felts in person? How is the color of the Deluxe compared to the regular Fed.? I have the brown regular and I'm thinking of getting the deluxe, that is if it is slightly lighter in color than the regular. The regular Fed. is kind of dark, I don't mind it at all, I love the dang thing, just wantin' a little bit lighter color, that's all.

Dont know if this is of any help, but I regard my Fed DL as being dark. This photo is in direct sunlight and the jacket is an auth. brown goat, just for comparising. I originally ordered the regular Fed. but returned it to get another size and at the same time changed my mind and asked for the De Luxe instead. As I recall it the brown color was not different.

Thanks for the link, I'm still trying to find out exactly what it means but the ribbon is the standard from Akubra as I received it. I have not changed it.

Look at the bow and turn your head 90 degrees left. It's that V shape right before the knot. It looks like you have it.

On my Federations, the Deluxe was a different shade of brown. The regular Federation has a greenish undertone, while the Deluxe does not. I have owned several of both lines of felt, and I personally prefer the regular Federation. It seems to taper slower than the higher quality Heritage line of felt.

But, I like the color on the Deluxe better.

Of all of the hats that I have owned, the Akubra Federation lines are still only one of two that I think is a keeper. Fedora

Nah, everybody knows the AdventureBilts are horrible hats... for using as soup bowls. I mean, I'm sure they can take it, but think of how the soup would taste!

Besides, just this evening, Steve reminded me of the Akubra that saved his life!

I have both.
The Deluxe is alot softer.

Ive got a akubra snowy river and wouldent give it up for any other hat in the world. Its just been through so much. And it never seems to taper. EVER! even after getting frozen in an inch of ice.

I have to agree, my reg. Fed is ABSOLUTELY a keeper! I've put it through some major rigor-maroll and it always comes thru with flying colors, not to mention it is my softest hat. Never has tapered.

Hey Adam, I really like that subtle Last Crusade bash you have in your avatar. I'm a DIE HARD Raiders bash man, but I'm wantin' to get a hat that's super soft for a Last Crusade bash. That's why I'm askin' this question.

I know what you're all thinkin' "why not just get an AB" answer- I'm going to

eventually. I'm waiting for Fedora to get ALL the tweaking done! That newest felt that's discussed in another thread is what I'm probably wantin'. Not to mention, I'll keep my AB "Raiders" style!

Speaking of that, Fedora, how do the colors of your hats compare to the Feds? Is the rabbit blend lighter than the beaver or vice-versa? Can you post pics of all for a comparison shot?
