Nice pics, Erri!
BTW, what does your Grandma/family members think of your hat?
Just curious because my family members were fairly amused when I first started sporting my AB.
However, they have always been supportive, and now really like it (at least that's what they tell ME
)

In Florence people is just surprised positively by seeing a fedora hat. My parents are very ok with it.
In south they never saw one
and everyone stared at me like "that's strange!"
My grandma said "what you are supposed to be with that hat? Zorro?"
Other relatives in Naples were ashamed to go out with me so many times i had to leave my hat at home
:post: that's in Napoli, in Sorrento is very different because it's full of Americans with panama hats so it's not so weird to people living in Sorrento (that's not far from Napoli)

"You're wearing a
FEDORA? No, no, this can't be right. You've liked ballcaps all your life! You're just confused, that's all! Son, just get some
counseling before you make a decision like this!"

And I would've told them I was ashamed to be seen with someone so closed minded. Are you serious about this? That's awful, man.
You're part of their family.

Nice hat ,Erri! I've gotten a few strange looks too, but I like my AB so

lol.

Now that I would consider lunacy. That's a sure fire way to get dismissed, if that's what you want to do. I remember when that happened, and the lady who did it got media attention for it. In my opinion, that's crossing the line between fandom and having a problem separating reality from fiction.

That is a terrible way to treat a family member. Stay strong erri_wan!
We all go through something similar at one time or another.
Here is my story:
I was out with my dad and a couple of his friends. At one point, my dad's friend commented on my hat saying, "are you going to wear that? It looks like a Hasidic Jew's hat." I was wearing my Akubra Federation!!
You tell me if this makes me look....religious??
I was about to tell him to take something and put it somewhere but thought the better of it. I showed a bit of "respect" to the old timer and chalked his comment up to
major ignorance.

Anyway i hold strong dont worry, my girlfriend loves my hat (and me of course
) and my parents and friends are ok with it... i cannot be bothered of anything else
I stay strong dont worry

Hey! Be nice to my mom!
You know Pagey, you should've just gone to your dad's pub wearing your MKVII instead.

Ah yes, but hey if it'd get me dismissed and if I was in the middle of the school year teaching. (Okay, second thought I may not have enough guts, but one never knows til the day comes).

The funny thing about people responding negetively to hat wearing in public is: forty years ago everyone would be wearing one.
Erri, I know how it is in Napoli and other parts of the south of Italy. I have very good friends in Matera and they have their ways. As Carlo Levi wrote, "Christ Stopped At Eboli!"

Wear it like you own it, guys and gals. Be confident and it won't matter what others think. It's you!! And if worse comes to worse, tell 'em to go eff themselves.
