Very very nice, especially the new Akubra. I had only moderate luck with my first Akubra. Then got a gray one and the bash came out very nice.
I am going to get either another brown Akubra or save a bit more for one of Steve's AB's. But your's looks good

Great looking fedora! That is the best Akubra I have seen! Great Bash! The U.S.M.C flag is cool too!

Man I made something wrong. That hat looks awesome! Great work!

Prairie, Excellent job.
I must say, this community is getting better and better with bashes and this one may be the finest Akubra I have ever seen. Well done, indeed.

THanks a lot everyone. It took a lot of pushing and pulling and stretching.

PS
I used nothing but cold water on that Raiders bash. It worked great without the threat of shrinkage. You don't need steam. Just cold water and patience.

I couldn't agree more. I try to avoid steam. No steam, no worries.

I'll never use it again. I was fortunate to have the defective one to learn on.

Steam! I think that was my mistake on my first Akubra. With my gray one, I formed it first then just a little water to set it. I haven't tweaked it yet.
With my brown Akubra, I used too much steam, and then more steam to continually tweak it. In Short Round voice, "No more steam!"

Steam is great as long as you don't get carried away with it. Its easy to over-steam a hat and cause taper.

A very nice job prairiejones!
It is good to see Akubras still out there.
Your pictures have made me 'tweak' my brim a bit.

57cm

You must have a small head like me... mine is a 55cm.
Man, yours is awesome... you say you did that Raiders bash with a pencil and cold water? I'm thinking that as soon as my fan film is done, I'm cleaning off my Fuller's and giving the Akubra an overhaul - PrairieJones style.
Brilliant!

Shane

IndyMcFly,
Here is the before and after (1st bash, 2nd Bash) pics of my dads hat. It is a 55cm. A little more difficult to bash.
