A white Indy?

I just had to show this one. I just finished this hat, from a body sent to me. The fellow wanted an Indy fedora made out of the body, and I just finished it. The hat is cream colored, not really white, but close. He wanted a 6 inch crown, and a wide brim. He got it. This hat is tall. I put some iron vintage ribbon on it, and put in a neutrel color sweat that I had a few of. I think this hat would look great, bashed with a good vintage bash, and with a light colored ribbon.

Wow! That is a beautiful hat. It's a very light color and kind of reminds me of "The Godfather II." I forget the character's name, but he was the Don that the young Vito dispatches in the hallway.
That would make a very nice summer hat; though, at 6", it is a little tall for me. -Awesome bash.

Don Fanucci, Hemingway
That was during the San Gennarro(sp) Feast that is still held (and which I go to every year) in Li'l Italy, NY. Just thought you'd like to know

Thanks, pal. For the life of me I couldn't remember that character's name. As you probably know, the big festival in Boston's North End is Saint Anthony's, and the Fisherman's Feast. I always try to make it.

What a nice hat for a light linen summer suit.

What a nice hat for a light linen summer suit.
Can I then assume sir, that you plan on making yourself one?
Just kidding Marc.
Someone, perhaps MK, posted a pic on his site a year or so ago, of a man back in the 30's wearing a white suit with a white or cream colored hat. I still have that photo etched in my mind. It was a broad brimmed fedora, with a generic crease, but it was simply beautiful!! Personally, I cannot pull off the white hat look. First, I am afraid I would get it dirty!! I know that in making a hat like this, you have to wash your hands many times in the process of finishing it up. They are lots of trouble to make too, as you have to change up the way you finish the hat. Real light colors are a pain in the posterior.
With that said, I really enjoyed making this hat. It was my first one in a color like this. I would love to see it, with a different style of crease, and a wider, pastel ribbon. Fedora

Fedora! WOW! You pulled a "white rabbit" out of the hat!.. Er..no! you made a hat from a white rabbit..no...ok, it's an albino beaver.
Everyone realize that the light colored hats are the HARDEST to work? They show EVERY imperfection.
You nailed that! It looks beautiful!

Thanks guys. Pyro, I have no clue as to this body, but just from working with it, I would say it was a high beaver content body, with no stiffener added. Fairly thick dress felt. Reminds me of some vintage stuff I saw from another hatter last year. regards, Steve

That's not one of the bodies that I sent you is it?
If it is, then I can say without a doubt that you are a first class hatter!

IT IS!!! I just got the package this afternoon.
For some backround, I found this body in the "throw-away" bin at the Stetson factory outlet in St. Joseph, MO. I tried my best to make a decent lid out of it, but gave up and asked Fedora if he could try to work with it and give me a sampling of his work.
All I can say is WOW!!! You are 100% what everybody raves about - this is a first class job. The liner is exquisite - the sweat band is baby smooth! The initials in it are a classy, old school touch! The pouncing of the felt feels like silk. I can't find ANY flaws in this hat - you ARE for REAL!
Anybody who is hesitant to order from Steve can put all fears to rest. I am a very discriminating gentleman and I can say you will not be disapointed by this man's work.
Thank you for the opportunity to sample your fine work. This is an AWESOME fedora!
All my best to you, Steve!

It is. I just did not identify the owner.
Glad you like it!! I enjoyed making this hat as I have only made one other hat in this color, for Sharpetoyes. So that was from the Stetson store? Wow!! That was intended to be a high dollar hat. You have some excellent modern felt there!! I am surprised it was made by Hatco.
I may have to revise my feelings toward the modern Stetson felt!! regards, Fedora

For some reason the link isn't working for me so I can't see it, however having one of your hats I'm sure it looks great Fedora. But what do you mean you can't make the white hat work for you. You told me you loved this Dobbs 55 that I sent you. In fact I'd like to see a pic of you wearing it and then let the rest of us judge whether it "works for you" or not. I'm betting it works just great.

Hey come on big guy, there's nothing to be ashamed of, let's see a pic of you in that Dobbs 55. I'm glad we traded, as when I saw that Stetson 100 I figured I needed something to replace the Dobbs.
Since YOU actually started this post about WHITE fedora's here's a pic of the Stetson 100. Is there any chance I could talk you into putting a wider ribbon on it for me?

Is there any chance I can talk YOU into putting that Stetson in a box and send it my way?! - Then you don't have to care about the ribbon neither...

Marc

Ahhh, let me think about that for about 1 second. Okay, I've thought about it. Sorry Marc, the answer is NO. I got this hat with the box for $34.00. The hat box alone is worth 20 bucks. I want to change the ribbon to make it more like a 40s style fedora.

That hat is great. You could slap an acorn band on there an it would be reminiscent of the cavalry hat the Duke wore in
Hondo.
