It Doesn't look like something that you would put water in...

I was thinking along the lines of a case for a water bottle. Perhaps binoculars?

It doesnt seem the right shape for a map book. could it be the brody equivilent of indys gas mask bag?

Maybe or maybe not? It could be a case for money or something like that?

listen to me, map book. I meant map bag. Possibly money, passport and that sort of thing? Maybe for a book or journal of his own? that would be an interesting piece of speculative gear, a brody journal.

Maybe the Journal could be somthing like Indy's Diary? I Go with the Idea with the Money/Passport Bag.

I agree, I had a pair of binoculars with a similar case - reinforced to protect them.

It looks similar to my binolcular case that used to belong to my dad. Unfortunately the strap on mine is gone (broken). I need to take another look at this when I get home.

I'm pretty sure it's a binocular case. From the size, perhaps the one for binos like the Ross 7 X 50s manufactured for the British military in WW2.
Cheers!

So that would be where Indy gets the binoculars from, right?
Do you think he told him ahead of time, "Bring binoculars, too."
Binoculars are amazing inventions...

Those be binoculars alright. My pop has a case that resembles it exactly. Holds his Bausch & Lomb Binocs. The leather is a tad rotten though since it is nearly 60± years old.
Cheers!

I wonder if Brody's binocular case is a British WWI pattern binocular case? I have a pair of British issue binoculars dated 1942 and they were contained in a web P-37 style padded case. Does anyone know what the issue pattern British binocular case was before the P-37 webbing was adopted in the late 1930's?

for my part i believe that it is his satchel. After all he is a sort of provisor or teacher too.
I'm not sure about the binoculars theory. But passport and other stuff like that should be more appropriate
this is a pics of leather satchel.

Mine too. They must have all shopped at the same place
. Looks identical to that case, but unfortunately, all worn out now.

Ya, my grand father had one too. It look like a binocular case but : is it possible that it is a small luggage which look like a binoculars case ?
In the contest, Brody is not in holiday : He is here to prepare the arrival of the Jones...
