Did Indy carry a wallet or just put his dough and I.D. in with his passport, and spare bullets in his MKVII?

What was the style of the time? Wallets or ...other?

If he did Bink's probably lifted it by now

I don't know If Indy carried a wallet, but if he did I'd say that he carried it in his Wested. The MKVII seems a litte insecure for carring something like that. Although I don't have a MKVII so I can't say for sure.

On a side note I'd also say that he carried at least some ammo in his jacket or shirt pockets. That way it would be available for a quick reload. Having to holster you gun and go fishing through your bag might not be wise.

He carried a wallet. He mentiones it in ToD saying that's how he met Shortround. Indy caught him trying to steal his wallet.

Actually, the line from ToD was "trying to pick my pocket". It didn't specify a wallet, per se, so it could have been cash in the pocket, or anything else.

I do recall, tho, that there was an 'indy wallet' prop for sale,(EBay I think??) which was a tall, thin bill-fold with credit-card type slots, and there were various prop ID pieces, and such.

A mickey pocket is the one inside your jacket - where one could put a 'mickey' (small) flask to hide your Prohibition Era booze. Some folks have long thin wallets, like the type Gater mentioned, that usually fit in there.

Someone on the RPF did a wallet run. It's completely made up, but he just figured it's what Indy would have carried.

It's basically a traveller's wallet since a regualr sized wallet can't store all his ID cards from varies places. I just wish I saved a pic

I remember thinking the same thing about the old cowboy movies...never saw anything used for money but a saddlebag.

Then that new Maverick movie came out, and there's Mel Gibson talking about his 'wallet'...leather, but flatter, and not folded - like it could hold airline tickets...(not that there'd be an airline for a LONG time)...I guess that it was wider and flatter to hold silver- or gold-certificates flat?

(And that sounds like a mickey-type, since he slid it inside his deep inner-vest pocket.)

Indy didn't carry a wallet - he left it in Harrison Ford's civilian clothes. His pockets and even his bag were always empty, until he needed to pull something out of them, and then the item would magically appear.

Frank Sintatra carried one key that could open all the doors in all his houses so that it wouldn't ruin the drape of his trousers.

I think the AAF Eastman wallet (Matt Deckard owns one) would be the perfect Indy wallet, it even has the awesome Flying Star mark on the front. Great wallet!

For awhile, if I was purchasing fabric in the garment district of Los Angeles I would keep the big bills... you know $5 and $10s ... in the sweat band of my hat. If someone pickpockets you that thoroughly Then you don't have to worry about the money being stolen at that point you can probably sue for sexual harrasment.

If I were Indy I'd keep the big bills in my Aldens or sweat band (like His Girl Friday) and the little bills in my interior jacket pocket (and that proves the jacket pocket exists on the jackets (or that Spielberg told Ford to stick a wad of cash in his jacket and pretend he's got a pocket)

I always thought that Indy doesnt have a wallet.
He had the money for Marion in his jacket, that was a special occasion anyway... but an adventurer never bring a lot of money with himself usually when he's in action.

I believe in ROTLA he left most of his money at Sallah's and then he went around the Cairo with few money for any little occasion... (although he steals dates all around ), as a matter of fact, later, he'll have some money to pay for alcohol i guess.

Then he goes around the dig site looking for the map room and the ark so he doesnt need any money... then the adventure goes on and if he would have got back his money from Sallah he surely lost them on the Bantu Wind along with with the hat and the bag (i think he just had whip, shirt, pants, aldens on the submarine). Maybe the pirates stole his stuff... who knows

I was recently wondering about all of this, myself.
Does anyone here have a vintage wallet that may be comparable to a wallet Indy could have carried?

StainlesSteve, I didn't find the pic of the wallet in your photo album, unless I totally missed it. I can be blind, sometimes.

I did a run on Indy wallets a while back... I used a travel wallet. I put my Indy Passport in it as well.

So prior, men's wallets were a simple bi-fold with sections to hold bills and maybe a "calling card". A "calling card" is not a phone card, but a version that resembles business cards like today, but with the man's name on it. They came in either the long check book style (coat style) or the regular pocket style.

I have a remake of a vintage wallet from Levengers. It is a coat style with little pockets for quarters. Interesting. I'll put that on my photo list, too.

Indy had no wallet. He kept his cash in his pocket until Marion let it go up in flames. After that he did not need one. Geez! Women!!

I don't think he carried a wallet or if he did he didn't carry it in his back pocket. He doesn't have that square line from the wear in his rear area.
