I'm not very interested in whips i admit, but i will help you guys and girls interested as much as i can... first of all i paste what i said in the other topic

Ok well these the information....

This whip is handmade by a man called Gianni Celeste, his hobby are whips like Fedora's hobby are hats and he makes also a morgan-like whip.
It's 10' long inspired from some ToD scenes. His whips are customizable, so you can choose colour, shape, size etc... (i'm translating from the thread of the italian forum)

Then it is said you can choose the material... cow or kangaroo leather and if you want you can ask him to put on the leather a "cream" that make it more flexible but also a bit darker.

Payment is easier for italians but it should be possible to pay with credit cards etc.

PRICE: 100-150 euro

Aw snap! Looks like the Italians are going to put me out of business!

I knew that Italy was reknown for leather craft and I sort of wondered if any of them made whips.

Wait a minute, isn't 100 euro about $150 US or more? Maybe I shouldn't be terribly worried. Also, a 10 foot kangaroo hide bullwhip is going to have about $100 worth of leather in it so this guy must be happy to work for very little.

Anyway, this guy should definitely get on IndyGear so he can post pics of his work.

100 euro = 120,67 $
150 euro = 181,01 $

So the whip is about 120-180 $

Do you make whips? I didn't know we had a whipmaker too in this forum. I don't usually follow the whip topics

erri, oh yes, we have several whipmakers that post over here in this forum. I'm looking forward to seeing pics of the whip.

Some questions I have that I'll repost from a thread that was not related to bullwhips and some of you may have missed:
How many plaits are his whips? How many bolsters? Does he speak/read/type English well if I were to email him? Does he even sell to overseas buyers? Can you tell I'm very interested?

plats have to do with the amount of strands used to do the braiding.
Bolsters refer to the inside of the whip. I actually meant to put Belly but got mixed up between to the 2 B-words.

Bolster-This is a length of leather wrapped around each belly in order to smooth out the shape and give the whip more thickness. For every belly there should be a bolster. The overlay is braided over the final bolster.

We have a few, in fact.
That's pretty much what happened to me when I got hooked on COW too, I gradually started finding interest in pretty much all of the topics. You'll get there, it's just a matter of when.

I just looked after whips when i was little, but i dont care a lot anymore, i wouldnt know what to do with a whip LOL.
I always go out with my precious adventurebilt but i cannot go to the post office or to the supermarket with a WHIP! LOL so it's quite useless to me... (and i dont have the money for a whip )

What, no whip to the market!? They are GREAT fur cutting in line.
Kidding aside, the basics are pretty easy to learn. And once you've made your first crack you'll find out how addictive and fun it really is. Trust me.

Erri: I had the same opinion about the need of a whip you have. But at the last European Summit (we just want to see you there next year, erri!) I cracked a "real" whip for the first time and it was FUN.
Well and now ... I'm here, looking for an affordable whip made by an Italian guy.
You see - addiction to these things comes very fast.

Besides: It could be fun going into the post-office in full gear (including a whip) and ask if any letter from Venice arrived ...

Why don't we meet in Venice next european summit? It would be great although i suggest you all to visit Florence too. The best Italian cities i think (and the most expensive ).

About the whip... i hope i dont change idea because i could go really nut for these things...

going back to the topic... i just received new emails from the polite Mr. Celeste with whips pics and all the needed information about his whips (bolsters etc etc).

I asked if he can speak english and if he can join the forum. I will post the info as soon as possible. I asked him also if i can post the pics he sent me we're very polite in italy, guys!

Ok, he told me he makes his whips following step by step Morgan's standard construction procedures. He's even, occasionally, in touch with Morgan.

The whip is 12 Plaits

Price depends on lenght:

for the cow hide whips:
€150.00 - 8ft
€200.00 - 10ft
€250.00 - 12ft
Kangaroo cost more. Sorry if i told you 100 euro at least but i was just translating what i read on the italian forum. Sorry. Anyway they are far cheaper than the original Morgan whips and these are made with the same professionality and a long experience is behind these handmade products

Mr Celeste will subscrive very soon to this forum so you will have directly the information from the maker.
I will post soon the pics he sent me.

PS he can speak english and i think he would answer to your emails. Anyway he will be soon in this forum so we can wait for him

Dosent look like we need to worry.
It would be better if the quality of the pictures was a little bit
nicer, its sort of hard to tell how they look from thoes
pictures. The only thing is, the top ones there is a little
lumpy. Looks like a good deal for you guys though.

You could say the whip looks lumpy in picture one but you have to admit the 4th picture looks fantastic.....I mean to my eyes which are not those of an experet in whip craft or quality it looks really good.

That last one looks interesting with a spiral. It was either intentional, or he pulls too hard with his right hand. Assuming he plaits in the same manner as most!

Glad to see he's into this. I was slated to make him a whip, but new baby won out in my time struggle.

PS. Giovanni, if you're reading, don't forget to roll your work really hard between a hard surface and a board. One can really push down hard, and make it smoother.

Noticed that myself.
Looks too drastic to not be intentional. I just assumed he did it on purpose, but hey you never know.
