I just got the Cabela's Autumn catalog and I noticed that they have added STONE to their assortment of colors for their Soft Canvas Trail Shirt line.

The pic doesn't look like much, and the embroidered Lab is optional, but you can see the stone color on the bottom of the pile. Many of us have a their Safari Shirt and we have learned, with it's 65% polyester content, that it breathes about the same a plastic bag! This Soft Canvas Trail Shirt is 100% cotton, so I'm going to order one and see how it feels. If it is okay, I'll probably order 2 more and canabalize one for epulets and the front pleats. Now I just have to convince the wife to break out the sewing machine!

I have one of those shirts.

It is cotton canvass which will probably be a pretty heavy shirt. Not bad for cold days in winter. Indy's shirt was cotton poplin, a much lighter material.

I dunno about the weight of the shirt, but the problem for me is the elbow patches. I don't need that. Its too bad. It was almost a nice cotton complement to their safari shirts.

I have several of these shirts and want more. I wear them regularly out in the field here in the desert (where today we are going to hit 116) and absolutely love them! The weight is not too heavy, at all. Be careful, though; there are two soft canvas trail shirts, and one is a 60/40 blend. Yech! Be sure you are ordering the 100% cotton!

The downsides: no epaulets, they have elbow patches, and the pocket pleats are inverted. They also tend to get a bit wrinkly if you don't take them straight out of the dryer or run an iron over them.

The upsides: they last forever, are extremely comfortable. I've had my first one for about 4 years now, wearing it almost exclusively in the field, so I've put some hard miles on it.

Since I got my first one they seem to have changed the cut a little, though and I get more bagging around the waist in the last couple I gotten. Not too extreme, but the usual problem of one size to fit everyone from 150 to 300 pounds.

My shirt doesn't have elbow patches and it does have epaulets. It is a little stiff.
