Portland Whip Cracking Group!

No not really but...
I was replacing the cracker on my whipo the other day and went out to the front yard (which I rarely do,and no not because the grass is too deep) to try it out and make sure it was on good and secure.

My neighbor across the street comes over after I had let off a couple of good cracks. Thinking he was just curious but noticed he actually had this ratty old whip in his hand. Turns out he has a couple of whips which he bought to include in his old west radio collection/ display. (He collects/rebuilds old radios). He had this VERY loosely laced cowhide
8 footer.
Man, was that thing heavy and I couldn't get it to crack no how.

He tells me that he's always wanted to learn how to handle a whip so I had some time before work and gave him about an hours worth of demonstration and lesson. He likes it enough that he goes home and orders himself up a Mark Allen special. So when that comes in, we're off to the park for whip cracking. Should be fun.

Just thought I'd share.

BTW, Kyle, keep me in mind for one of them pocket whips at soem point. pleazzzzze!

LOL! Sure thing! The next two I make are all ready spoken for but I'll add you to the list.

Great story! I wish it were always that easy to meet whip enthusiast folks.
