Whoa, I didn't know you could request a zipper for a right-handed person. My jacket has a zipper that's more suited for a leftie. Oh well, not a big deal. I hope you're as happy with your Wested as I am with mine, friend!

The left side zipper is standard in England were the right side is standard in the US.

Way to go VP I ordered mine about a week ago in authentic brown goatskin - after much agonizing over which leather to chose. It's crazy to actually be able to buy gear in the same country I'm in, usually it's all imported, yay no import duty for once!

I ordered mine about a week and a half ago, and I'm still nervous about my measurements.

I didn't say anything about the zipper, as I'm a lefty.

Amen, Strider. Though, when I order in a couple weeks (new job -> first paycheck -> Wested Temple Authentic Lamb) I'll ask for an American zipper, because it is tough to overcome a lifetime of brainwashing in a right-hander's world, even if you are a southpaw, like Short Round.

Honestly guys, I can't understand all the fuss about the zipper. I admit that for a while I found it a little different, but its really something minor. Beside, I like how the storm flap hides the slider and pull tab.

I'm right handed, and have no problem with this. My Lotus 7 is right hand drive , which means I have to shift with my left hand.

All right, all right... yeah, you can get used to it. In junior high I had a suede jacket with the zipper on the other side. (Come to think of it, it might been meant to be a women's jacket, but honestly, the only difference was the zipper... okay, we won't mention that ever again. ) Eventually, I didn't notice it. My deal with getting a Wested other than stock is so I can just get right into it and have instant familiarity.

A lot of people like the idea of the zipper being more screen accurate, or live on the other side of the pond and wouldn't have it any other way. I say cool. Different strokes, and all of that. May your zipper never break, is all I have to say! (And I've never heard of anyone having that problem with a Wested, aside from the film crew).

My jacket was made in six days and seven nights and it will ship today. I was on a holiday for two weeks and I told them to send it today.

hmm...ive got a 102cm size chest as measured by a tailor...and i ordered a size 40 or 41 depending on what they decide...

will this be too small? VP ordered a size 44 for a chest only 4cm bigger...yeah...

i hope it isnt too small?

what do people think? i might have time to quickly change my size to a 42 or whatnot...though i did say in the requests that it's up to them really what size it is...that i dont want it baggy but i dont want it too small. my actual chest measurement works out to around 40.2 so 40 *should* probably fit? if not then 41 would?
though ultimately they'll see that my chest is 102cm and then figure out what would be too small if indeed it is? or would they blindly just go with 40 or 41 and not think about it?

According to FLATHEAD, Westeds have 4 inches movement room. So when you order a 40 jacket, the actual chest measurement of the jacket is 44 inches.

My parents told me not to get a jacket that is too small, and because I live in a cold country, I'm still growing and because they'll pay everything I decided to go one size up.

If you want to wear a sweatshirt or something like that under you jacket (and I guess i Finnland you will, won't you?) it is a good choice to take at least one or two sizes bigger. Don't be afraid.

If the jacket is really too small or to big you can send it back to wested to have it changed. It's not nice because it takes time but if the jacket doesn't fit it's not the end.

it's not the time...it's the money. it costs heaps to get it sent here once let alone twice for alterations. I need to get it right the first time. I live in australia, and the postage is 35 pounds which i believe is about 80 australian dollars? anyway it's alot!

Your parents are very smart people!!

Going up a size is very good advice if you plan to keep the jacket for a
long time!

It will fit you better when the weather gets colder, and you have a
sweatshirt on under it. And it will fit you for alonger period of time as
we all "grow" as we get older, mostly around the middle!!

By ordering a jacket that is just one size larger, you will have plenty
of room to grow and wear layers under the jacket for years to come, and
you will then be able to enjoy the jacket for a much longer period of time.

Also, if you are not used to a more military fit of clothing, which is
closer to the body fit, then getting Wested in your normal size, which will
have 4 inches of movement room over the tagged size, will feel tight
to you, and it can take some getting used to.

Plus, alot of people are used to todays cut of clothing, which is a little
looser fit, and if you order a Wested one size larger than your normal
size, you will get 6 inches of movement room, which will make the
jacket feel better to you, and be more like what you are used to wearing.
Todays jackets will usually give you between 6 and 8 inches of movement
room, which is a good bit looser than a military fit.

I have a 42 inch chest, and I ordered my Wested in a size 44. Since the
size 44 has an actual chest measurement of 48 inches, it give me plenty
of room to wear a sweatshirt or sweater under it when it gets colder
outside. And when I am only wearing a tee-shirt or short sleeve shirt,
it does not look or feel "baggy" on me.

So, now if I do "grow" around the middle, I can still get many more
years of wearing out of the jacket.

And as a last point, a jacket that is slightly too big can always be worn
comfortably any time. A jacket that is slightly too small, will always
stay in the closet collecting dust because its too unconfortable to wear.

I normally wear a 44L but order my Wested as a 46L. Like FLATHEAD said its loose, but not baggy.

I've got a question though. We hear all of this talk about the standard cut vs. the 80's cut. But which one has the 4" of movement room? That is, if there is really any difference in the cut?

I do believe that the 80's cut is slightly tighter than the normal
Wested. I think it has only 2 or 3 inches of movement room versus the normal
4 inches.

This makes the jacket slimmer looking, and, obviously, tighter on your
body. Its also tappered more from the chest to the waist, so it fits around
your stomach much tighter than a normal sized Wested, which is usually
made pretty straight down the sides so that the waist is the same
measurement as the chest.

But some people like their jackets to fit like a second skin, with really no
extra room in it.

I do not like that.

Plus, the 80's fit jackets are for people who have really well built bodies,
with like 5 percent body fat!

We normal people of the world don't look like that after we pass our
early 20's, and start to get out of shape and gain some pounds and some
fat here and there on our bodies!!

hmm well too late now to change my order =P but i figure size 41 should be big enough. most of my jackets are fairly tight fitting anyway. i did say it should be up to their discretion if they think it'll be too small for me anyway so im sure it'll all be fine.

and if i get too fat for it someday...ill just leave it unzipped and stretched =)

though hmm i just re-read an email from wested and it seems gemma did recommend a size 42 for a size 40 chest. hopefully the cutter cuts me a 42. or at least a 41...hmm. how much difference can 1 inch make? heh

just a question...what was your order number? do they do them in the order of the numbers...or do they do a lot of goat then lamb like depending which leather it is they do it in blocks?

and im really relaly stressing about the size...i really hope the size they make isnt too small...hmm
