I have seen a picture postet in here from a guy who found a vintage 30's jacket which look very close to a Indy jacket.
Does anyone of you have pictures of old look-a-like jackets which show natural distressing?

Try Rick5150; he has some old vintage jackets and I am sure some of them are distressed. I would try to PM him.

Here I go again wishing I hat a digital camera.

I have an old A-2 that may dad bought used in an army surplus store in the 70's. It is absolutely beautifully distressed. It been beat to a frazil, but after a tune up she'll be good for another 100K miles.

Its had 2 sets of knit cuffs and waits and needs a 3rd. I would love to a have a Wested Raiders distressed like it.

I really like the look of the well worn A2's, and if I wouldn't be so Indy-fixed, the A2 would be my favourite jacket. I also like them with some good old patches

I do not think my jacket looks too close to an Indy jacket, but it is the type of jacket that I would want for adventures and it is from the correct era. Well-worn and soft, but not badly damaged by any means. In fact, for a 70-year old jacket it is in nice shape (Except for the big rip I put in the back panel when I caught it on a door at the local 7-11 store. :evil: ) But that will be fixed soon. Some adventure...

You can find the jacket of your dreams on ebay, or you can check here. You can pick a jacket based on the decade of your choice. Many of the jackets I liked the looks of were black. Ask for Rebekah, Brandy Brewer or Cragg. They are all extremely helpful and they will take additional pictures of the jacket and even take pictures of the details that you request to help you decide on a jacket. For instance, my jacket has side straps and I wanted a close-up and they were kind enough to provide pictures.

I was looking for something from the 1930's and it took a while to get one that I liked the looks of and that fit properly. The first jacket I received, I had to send back because it was too tight. I forgot how small we were back then.

People rave about how well things were made "back in the day" but that is not always true. The zippers from the 40's and 50's - especially the Talon are better quality than the ones on my jacket.

Also keep in mind that you are getting an authentic jacket from the chosen time period. Sometimes with authentic thread is holding it together

. Seams may be loose and there may be spots that are worn where you do not want them to be worn. This can all be dealt with prior to you receiving the jacket if necessary as they do touch-ups and restorations. The price of the jackets are not cheap either, but you are buying a piece of history.

Ghost Motor Clothes stands by its jackets too. Something you will not get from ebay. If you have any specific questions at all, let me know and I will do my best to answer them.

On ebay a lot of those jackets with patches are sold everyday.

Ask Fedora about patches for the A-2. I believe he recently picked up a bunch although I recall they were on ebay. At least some of them...

I would attach my own patches from the army, Canada, etc., but I won't go for a A2 at the moment anyway.
There was a warm looking indyisque coat on the page, too. I will have a look at this kind of jackets at the next big fleemarket.

By the way, I meant a guy who posted his vintage jacket about 1 or 2 years ago in here. I guess he postetd a picture of his daugther wearing it, too

Nubuck is similar to suede, but not as "furry," if you will. With Nubuck you can draw your finger across the material and see a grain, draw an actual line. Many hiking boots, like those made in Asolo, are made from it.

Many of the"newer" or less expensive jackets use very thin leather and bulk up the jackets with a quilted liner. Those types are usually overdistressed and too evenly distressed. I learned that lesson from e-bay. Most of my acquisitions went to Goodwill.

You are very welcome. As I mentioned there is always ebay. The price for the Lost Worlds Ryder jacket I bought there is currently $800 on the Lost Worlds website. I got it for $200 on ebay. Flea markets, yard sales and second-hand stores are always a good place to look for many things. The problem there is that you may find it difficult to find something that is your size.
