This pic shows the 100% black beaver fedora I got from Adventurebilt a lot better.

Nope, unless your mind is. Quite a few beavers gave up their skins so I could have this hat and they deserve credit for it.

I like how the brim has that swoop down at a rakish angle. It looks as if you lifted it off the head of Mike Connors from "The Philadelphia Story" or some other classic film.
How is the top done? Is it a center dent, tear drop, or some other style?
Excellent hat; one of the best I have ever seen.

It's got a center dent. The crown is 5 3/4 in the open crown state and the brim is 2 3/4 all the way around. I love this hat.

You know, fedoralover, I used to have a vintage black fedora. After seeing yours, it looks like I have yet ANOTHER hat to save up for! Can't you guys wait till I have another job before teasing me like this?! By the way, it looks really good on you.

What do you mean "used to have"??? Do you know how hard it is to find a vintage black fedora with a wide brim and a high crown? Sure you can pick up a black stingy brim in any given week off ebay, but try to find one with at least a 2 58ths brim and a 5 1/2 inch crown. That's why I had this one made and it looks very vintage as you can see.

I did manage to get a vintage black borsalino about a month ago, it took me a long time to find it. It is in excellent shape. The felt is probably about 1/2 the weight of the Adventurebilt.

So if you gave away or sold one you need a double jointed knee to kick yourself in the butt for that mistake. But, at least with Steve's Raider block and beaver felt, you can get one that is a dead ringer for vintage.

 Never, ever, never. I think I will leave those hats to folks like Art and Charlie. They seem to like them enough to make em'. Personally, I don't make anything that I do not like. Never cared for bound brims. I have made a few vintage styled hats, but only if they have the raw edge brim. Now, if Indy wears a bound brim in Indy 4, I will of course, have a change of heart, and mind. Fedora

Ha! Thanks for putting that question to rest.

 I ended up selling it/trading it to a local vintage clothier I know a couple years ago. It was a nice hat, but honestly, I didn't wear it much because it was almost too tight on me. Every now and again I do an inventory and purge some things I simply don't use or use enough to justify hanging on to them. Besides, it was given to me by a phycho ex-girlfriend, so I was glad to get rid of the extra "baggage," you know? Besides, what hat size do you wear?

Bink, I wear a 7 1/4, but have learned how to stretch up 1 size or down 2. So, I can make anything between a 7 1/8th to a 7 1/2 work just fine. When you collect vintage fedora's you don't want a minor thing like size to get in the way of getting a great hat.

Hey, we share the same hat size! Tell you what, if I ever get rid of a black fedora again, I'll let you know.
