So
I added the black ribbon to my fedora but I ran into a little problem. I pulled it as tight as I could around the bottom but theres a gap on the top.
The top of the ribbon doesn't sit flush like the brown one did. What did I do wrong?

A couple of tricks. If the ribbon is the sort that does not stretch, you have to iron a curl into it, so that one edge is shorter than the other. You put the shorter edge on the top. If the ribbon is the sort that will stretch a little, turn the sweat down and then pull it tight, and sew it on. Once you push the sweat back up in the hat, the ribbon is really tight. I do this on all of the hats I make, especially if it is a Cairo hat. Fedora

If the ribbon is not the type that has a decent rayon content, it has mostly polyester, the only thing you can really do is add some tacking stitches.
The cheap stuff you buy in JoAnns Fabrics and such is this type.
If it does have rayon, do like fedora mentioned. Use a steam iron and pull it into a curve as you iron it. This is called "swirling."
