The Hem of the Raiders Pants...
In a few weeks I should be getting a pair of Wested pants with an unfinished inseam. Obviously I'll have to hem the pants. Some time ago I remember reading a post in which someone mentions that the original Raiders pants Ford wore had a rather wide hem which made the pants drape more dramatically than normal pants. Given that the pants worn in Raiders seem to have a more baggy look then the other films, I think this observation might be right.
Can anyone else comment?
I did a search for the post, but found nothing.

Ask away, Luisiana!:) The hem is where the pant legs are folded inwards and adjusted to fit the wearer's legs... the seam can be seen faintly on the outside of the pants, like on my Westeds (the lighter pair are hemmed way too low, btw):Luisiana Jones wrote:Sorry for interrupting the thread but what s a hem?
I believe the term in Spanish would be los dobladillos de los pantalones(?)

Ask, Señor Sable, and you shall receive.

My 1st gen Westeds - badly hemmed by stupid tailor who just didn't listen...

The 2nd gen pants - hemline about where I want it.

Trouser/pant leg turned inside out. Inside out, that is.
You are very welcome.

I wish that for someone of my stature, the Wested pants came with a longer unfinished length. I knew how the pants should be hemmed, but I had to walk a line between having a hem that was as big as I wanted and having "high water" pants.
Especially considering the cost of the pants, I fretted over this a great deal. I guess that I am happy with it, considering what I had to work with. I just needed some more length and it would have made the job a whole lot easier.
