I need a little help from anyone who can give it. I recently bought a couple of whips, but the falls on them are not exactly what I was looking for. The falls on these whips are made for cattle work, not target cutting and sport cracking. After just a couple of hours with my 18' whip, the fall is beginning to deteriorate. The other one, a 9' whip, has not been used yet. I have posted a couple of pics of the two whips that show the falls. Any advice on what I can do would be greatly appreciated. I would gladly send them to anyone who thinks they can convert them into something more in line with what I do with the whips. I'd make a slit where the fall begins and then cut off the excess material. I'd then attach a new, narrower and tapered fall through the slit. It's what I did to my Winrich Budget Indy and it works great. Not as aerodynamic as rebraiding it, but well worth a try. Works for me.

I'm sure the makers will come up with something better.

It might not be a bad idea to send the whips to somebody to have long, slender Australian-style falls tied on in the regular manner. The falls on your whips look to be made of the same leather as the rest of the whip, which probably won't hold up as well as latigo or white hide, especially if you cut the old falls down to make them narrower.

I'd be willing to put new falls and crackers on your whips for $15 each, plus shipping costs.
