I'm thinking of get rid of my predistressed cowhide to get a simple cowhide instead since the pre-d. is too light.

Before I disapeared off the board, there where some good recomends on the lambtouch cowhide. What happened to this kind of jackets?

Does anybody have pictures?

My belief is that Peter no longer offers thje lambtouch.

Ken's right. He dropped the lambtouch leather just before he added the 'authentic lambskin' and 'authentic' goatskin hides. It was being discussed when Peter announced the availability of horsehide, and all discussion on the lambtouch stopped. Regards! Michaelson

He stopped it, but weren't some guys round here saying that the lambtouch is (was) a real good jacket?

Anyway, do some of you have pictures of lambtouch/cowhide jackets?

I guess there are not so many guys here who wear non predistressed cowhide, right?

You may not be able to get the lambtouch but you can still get the non-distressed cowhide I believe. They are two different hides.

I personally LOVED the lambtouch, as it was about the same physical weight as lambskin, but had/has the toughness of cowhide. I may be wrong here, but think he STILL offers it in black, if color doesn't make any difference to you. Drop him a line and ask! Renderking has a lambtouch cowhide Wested. He can tell you more. Drop him a PM. Regards. Michaelson

I just did a little work on my predistressed cowhide with antik-finish, sandpaper and sand. Doesn't look so bad!

I'll post pics this weekend

Antik Finish? What's that? Is it like a dye or colored polish? How does it work? Please post some pics :)

Antik finish is a substance for "finishing" leather surfaces. I couldn't wait so I made some quick pics right now, and here they are :)

Good looking distress job....don't know if that's the Antik stuff, but it does look very well aged on top of the distressing

That jacket looks really good - it looks quite different to my predistressed cowhide when I had it though - like you say lightness was a problem with it and I found it difficult to distress effectively so couldn't do much with it

What size are you? ( if your still thinking of selling it )

Also, nice to see someone else with a short beard and long hair !

I have to admit, Pagey, that's the best looking distressed cowhide I've seen in quite a while. Looks just like naturally worn leather to me, as naturally worn cowhide really doesn't lose the shine....just the color as the surface cracks and the lighter colored layers underneath show through. ...at least mine haven't. Same thing with lambskin. Regards. Michaelson

I wish I'd known about this a year ago before I sold my pre-distressed cow.

@Bjones: Thanks alot. I've got size 40R, but I guess I found what I was searching for some years at last and I won't sell my jacket any longer, sorry about that!
@Ken: Don't worry, your current gear looks really great what I have seen!

Question

What does Antik Finish DO? I realize it finishes the leather but that doesn't say much. Does it lighten the leather? Darken? Even it out? Take color away? Can it be bought here in the states? More details please as I am VERY curious. Thanks in advance.

Regards, Dr. J
