umm okay... I like it.
I quite like Mk VI's myself. My Mk VI has always been better than either of the Mk VII's I've had. The colour is better and the cloth looks... well... neater?

Like it? LOVE it.
I've found that the best and easiest way to get rid of oxidation on the hardware is to use soaped steel wool, of any brand. Then, by just using your bag they will stay uncorroded. At least mine have...
Be careful not to do any rubbing on the canvas though or you'll get lighter areas that look unnatural.
Good luck, and make sure you'll post some pics of the Mk VII too when it arrives.

Well, let me qualify that: it is around here. Now if you live in one of the leather capitals of the world, say Florence, Italy, then you might be able to find something cheaper. Maybe Ferragamo will make one for you.

I ordered the leather for mine on-line and assembled it myself. If you can find a leather shop, saddle maker or such nearby or even an on-line shop located in Italy I'm sure you'll get by cheaper too. And then, on to finding the buckle and rivets/Chicago screws.

I like the bag. For my strap, I went to Wal-mart and bought a piece of something (don't even know what it is!!!) that was brown, and kinda looked like leather, and it serves me very well, and looks kinda accurate.

Just a Swedish on-line company dealing in leather stuff and tools.
I'm sure you'll be able to find something closer to you... and cheaper.

In the states, Tandy Leather makes some good straps. The hardest part is finding the right buckle, if you want screen accuracy. Some folks had searched for years. With Todd's and TAG that is what you get: an accurate buckle. Actually, I think Todd might actually also sell just the buckle.
If you did it yourself, you need:
-the strap,
-a leather punch to get the hole for the Chicago screw,
-the Chicago screw,
-An accurate buckle,
-If you want the ridges on the side, you need a machine to do this; if you don't, you don't.
Am I missing anything? I don't have time for that. It's too easy to buy one from a vendor, though mine was gift from a fellow forum member. Thank you, sir!

I can't say for retail in Sydney, because generally speaking they pay more for many things (housing etc), but generally also get paid more.
In my town, when I was in retail (about 3 years ago) we got around $16.50 per hour.
Sorry for dragging this so far off topic. Umm.. they also used petrol in LC in Donovan's cars... yes that's it.

Around here, you can get a high end brand pack of Cigs(Marlboro or Newport or whatever) for about $2.70 at the highest, the cheapest I've seen is $1.50 on special.
I've also seen cartons (250 cigs) of cheaper brands run as low as $9.99(or about 13 Australian dollars).
Like your bag by the way, if I haven't already said so.
