Post by The Aviator »

Hi, im kinda new and wanted to say hello, saying that i joined in january and haven't did much posting.Heres the story, ive got a very sick akubra thats pretty beat up and tapered, its been worn in rain, sleat, warm weather and has got soaked about a dozen times.

I want to get the experts opinion on a hat shapers straight sided block at www.hatshapers.com its $30 dollars. I want to know will it be a good raiders block.

This is the block:

That is not a bad looking block. I think someone here, maybe Pyroxene, was working with them on having this one made (but don't quote me on that one.)

Its looks to have the right shape, and curves off the the crown at just about the right place. The only problem I see is their lack of sizes.

Anyone else with an opinion?

Well, I'll quote you....

Seriously, that block looks SWEET! That is so cool. I gotta get me one.
Due to the constraints of our thermoforming process, we are not normally able to make a straight sided form but we have had great success with this shape.
They told me they couldn't do a while back and cited the "thermoforming process" as the reason why too.

I would have to get one and block a piece of felt before I could sign off on it but it looks really close to being the correct shape.
