Just curious with so many boots to choose from? a nice boost for Alden, although small, but for a small company still nice

Rumor has it that it was Ford who brought his private work boots to the set of Raiders. He had used them while working as a carpenter and they looked the part - the rest is history...

i believe that originally Spielberg has wanted Indy to wear boots similar to Belloq, but Ford convinced him that the Aldens would have been closer to what Indy wore - more of blue collar archaeologist

Ditto to what scandanavia said. Ford already wor the 405's for everyday use as a carpenter, and also maybe because he had a foot condition in which he needed the shoes....not sure about the latter.

Funny you brought up this question because I was going to ask the very same thing.

I heard a story from the man that I ordered my Aldens from. He said that when Ford was filming Star Wars he hurt his ankle. His doctor then sent him to Carmel to get fitted for the Aldens. From there Ford suggested that it be included in the Indy costume.

Dang, Harry was always getting hurt...

Knee Lig in ROTL, back in TOD, and ankle in Star Wars?

Indy sure was injury-prone. :D

Which movie was it that he got the staples in his head? :-k

I'm thinking the staples part may be a myth. I've seen the footage on the Indy DVD, and I think it was one of Harry's on-the-set jokes. Like when he talks to his horse about what they're doing in the last shot. :junior: -IJ

I saw a pic of Harrison a few years ago, trap shooting with Speilberg, he was wearing his Aldens then too. He just really likes them :D

Yeah, I know, IJ. Just like 99.44% of my posts, I was not being serious.

Well, acting can be a very injury-prone occupation. I was in a stage production of "You Can't Take It With You" and broke a couple ribs when I collided with another actor in a fast-paced scene. And that's not even an action movie...

Neat-o! I was Mr. Henderson, the IRS man. Though...probably not in the same production.
