LC Fedora Vs. ROTLA

I am just looking at some screen captures to try and see if the MKVII has the grooves or not, and I noticed something. Now, I am sure this has been addressed on here a bunch, but, does the LC Fedora have a shorter brim than the ROTLA brim?
If this is the case, does anyone happen to have an AB hat, and know if those changes are incorporated into the hat, or is the AB LC hat, just a raiders hat blocked differently?

You are correct, the LC brims were narrower. The crown was almost as high as ROTLA. The look was more of an "unbashed" look. No tight front pinch on the LC fedora.

I thought the crown had shrunk a bit and the brim was cut back because it was getting rough around the edges.

From my view there ain´t no grooves and secondly from my newbie view too, yes the LC has the brim narrower, or smaller than the ROTLA fedora
, but let´s hear the pros about that

LJ,
You can reference that piece of tidbit over at the main Indygear.com site in the Fedora section:
http://indygear.com/gear/fedora.shtml
It breaks down the qualities of each film hat. ....while you are waiting for to hear from the pro's. ;-)

Steve made mine a "Generic" 1930's fedora... I think it's perfect. I don't know how hard it is to get the front pinch to relax one you've done it sharp.... but you can always pinch it once you get it.

Actually, I think its' kindof assumed that Katanga mailed the hat back to Indy - or at least mailed it to Sallah who mailed it back to Indy. :junior: -IJ

Yea, I always thought that Indy got his gear back somehow.
I know if I had to leave my gear behind I would make sure I could get it back. It cost too much just to leave laying around.

Oh come on, you dont mean to say that its becasue no-one on the crew decided to pay attention and preserve one?
LOL

I have a feeling there was a semi-happy pirate on that ship sporting a really beat up fedora, after Indy went after that sub.

I thought that Katanga followed the sub to the island and waited for the action to be done and over with.
Who knows...

I bet he kept the hat to reduce his losses! I'm sure the hat was worth something wherever he was going.

Since the screen reveals nothing to the wearabouts of the hat after the ship, I say the hat was mailed back to his home along with his jacket.

Well, as I say to the Star Wars geeks, show me any indication of that on screen...
Heh
Seems pretty obvious to me, at the end of the movie, on the stairs with Marion, where she says, "Come on... I'll buy you a drink? You know... a drink.", Indy is in a new hat...
Especially considering that it's GREY!
Um.... that's the same grey fedora he's wearing at the beginning of the movie, with the same blue suit, as he boards the Plane out of San Francisco for Nepal... so unless he just bought a brand new fedora and suit that looked exactly like he had on in the movie prior, he must of contacted Katanga at some point between the ark going "postal" and ending up in Washington DC to get his stuff (fedoras - both of them, suit, luggage, etc) off the ship.

Ah, you beat me to it MJ. I was just think about that.

Seriously guys come on! It's totally obvious!
Even though it was a horrible movie, Last Action Hero (Staring Arnold Schwarzenegger) has taught us that every action hero has a closet full of gear that is all exactly the same.
But in all seriousness...ess.. I think they just let Marion get her stuff...sure they made her wear the nighty the whole time, but I mean they are the bad guys, why would you let the good guys be comfortable?

Indy
does have a closet full of gear that is all exactly the same. Or awfully darn close. Multiple shirts, jackets and pants. Why not hats as well? We have all seen the screen shot a million times by now haven't we?!

Yea, we're the same way. I have several sets of indyish shirts, pants. Several jackets and hats. Do I qualify as a action he...ah, never mind.
Really though, I think that Indy got his gear back somehow. Its pretty expensive to just leave S&W HE's and Browning Hi-Powers laying around.

Maybe not, but it WILL buy you a cup of coffee at McDonalds, and that's all that matters.

Somtimes I think there are as many variations of the LC has as there are the TOD hat.

Boy isn't that that the truth. The crown looks pretty low too.

Did anyone on the production crew state how many fedoras were used for each movie? I imagine that all three fedoras were well made enough that they could be reshaped easily. But if they used several, then that would explain varying brim lengths and crown heights.
...sorry if that has been said before -- I didn't have enough time to read the whole thread.
My AB brim was a carbon copy of the brim in ROTLA, however I had to trim it down, as I have a narrow face.
