Clive allowed me to host pics of his bag collection...

Renderking, we can count on you! Thank you so much.

There are 1941 & 42 marked bags. 4 are smooth snap closures and 6 are rippled snaps. One of each kind exists in my other storage. Yes all marked W & G. The other numbers are not yet known to me some being clearly marked and others just with pencil markings. All are Mint.
One or two with the odd thread run on the mid section of bag but not really distracting.
I had a friend out looking for W & Gs for quite a while before I got them all in.

I wouldent necessarly say that. Ive been buying and reselling MKVII's
for some time now. If you know where to look you can get ones in tip top condition for as low as 5$. I even got a grouping of 3 bags for 10$ one time. You just need to be a dectective.

Gentlemen,
Most on your mind was the cost. Yes it was high only because I could get help from a friend and in good turn, he had to be covered for the time taken.

It was not easy and took over one year of searching. Finding W & Gs in any form is mostly difficult. Adam is correct that you could get bargains however, you have to be patient, with enough luck and right timing, you could hit on a great deal...then again is normally Mark VII in other makers markings. I dont think I was that patient so I did dish out a bit more but it helped a friend in the process as well and vice versa.

I specifically set out to get the W & Gs as I had other makers names in hand including a slightly well used Australian issue item with eyelets at the bottom of the bag.

Can't really speak as I pass out every other typed word.

Amazing stuff! And both Newey snaps and flat ones within the same maker and year.

It looks as though W&G started using flat ones sometime during 1942, probably because the flat ones were cheaper to make with less material and being less complicated.

That Australian bag you mentioned, do you remember if it had squared off flap corners like the ones used in Africa?

Swindy, thanks so mucha nd you can see that one is 1943.Its interesting that both type press studs were in the same year for W & G.

Ref Australian bag , it has squred off corner on flap, loop under flap , 3 eylet holes below, and very much a tan /khaki colour. Marking if I recall the details:

VII
M & H Company 1943
