Does anyone know the difference(s) between the WSP "Indy"-whip and the plain Australian whips that they sell? I was just browsing through their cataloge and just wondering if there were any huge differences.

Handle length is the biggest diffrence.

The australien typ is much lighter than the american. Last one have a steelpike inside the short handle that give weighting and balance.

The light longhandle australian bulls feels more like a stockwhip (normaly is a cane inside the handle). They have a faster action as you control more from the whrist.

They are pretty different whips. The Indy whip is made by our boy Joe Strain - Great whip and an almost perfect replica of the Morgan whip used in the films. A fantastic whip by a great whipmaker. The Austailian is made by Terry Jacka and has a much longer handle and beefer thong and as such is a bit better for target work. It is the whip that was used by Michelle as catwoman in Batman Returns (and by Ms. Berry in Catwoman ugh!). A very good whip made by a top notch whipmaker as well. As an owner of mutiples of each of those whips and many others, I can tell you they are both great whips. Just depends on what style or look you are going for.

The Austrtalian whips are also lighter than the American style whips. I would guess either no bolsters with 2 plaited bellies or a single plaited belly with a bolster. They definitely do not have the beef as an American style whip.
WSP has several whipmakers to fulfill their orders. A few are from Australia and a few from the U.S.

I agree with the comments so far. Along with Robert Duke's comment about the Terry Jacka whip being lighter, I also found the balance to be more forward weighted - like there is no lead tape or metal spike in the handle foundation. A lot of people like that style of light weight and balance towards the thong and not the handle. Maybe it's more accurate... I never looked at that way.

Actually the whips in the Halley Berry version were made by Joe Strain.
He also made all the whips, including a coupe of 25 ft whips for the upcoming Zorro release.

Fast fingers, ... slow brain.

Several months ago while Sin City was still in production I was contacted by them to supply some falls and poppers. I am not sure which whips they were using and I haven't seen the movie yet either. I heard thru the grapevine there is some whip action. I'd like to see it the movie soon to see what they did. Anyone else see the movie yet?

Robert, you might benefit from reading the review of Sin City over at the Fedora Lounge...quite a few differing views on the movie.
