Hey guys, I was wondering if anyone has experimented with fitting other guns into the Webley holster other than, of course, a webley pistol? I have a snub nose .38 detectives model revolver that fits quite well, but the barrell is too short, so I was wondering if you guys happen to have any suggestions? Oh by the way, has anyone tried to fit a .45 like Indy's in Raiders into the Webley holster? I havnt, but I find it interesting that hes using a 45 but still has the webley revolver holster.....thx

I think it turns out the auto in Raiders was a Browning, not a .45.
Is that Indy on a snowboard in your picture?

I've carried a Smith and Wesson .44 Magnum with a 6 inch barrel in my vintage WWII Webley holster and it fit perfect. I imagine you could put nearly any 6 inch barrell gun in there.

I'm no gun expert, but doesn't HF have a S&W in Raiders (not a Browning)...I'm only guessing this because Lee makes a S&W replica.
I'm thinking the Webley was used in LC. Please correct me if I've got this all wrong.

In Raiders, Indy is carrying both a S&W and a Browning. The Smith & Wesson is the revolver and was used in both 45ACP and .455. The Browning was the pistol used in the Raven and on the Bantu Wind. It is a 9mm pistol. The Browning is a descendant of the Colt 45. So in reality, depending on the scene, Indy carried either a S&W in 45ACP, a S&W in .455 or a Browning HP in 9mm. That makes for a whole lot of ammo to carry in a few different calibers.

thanks for the info guys, especially about the 44 magnum, I'd like to carry a high caliber gun in the holster but havn't tried any yet. Yeah schwammy that the Disney Indy action figure on a snow board ) I got it from Toyfare, the whole picture is of Indy chasing a couple of Nazi action figures, Heres the whole thing............

Actually the Browning might have been used to sub for a Colt .45, they even say this on the Indy Gear page. It would make more sense for Indy to carry two guns of the same caliber. Back to the subject, I don't have any experience with real guns, but a flap holster fit for the size of the Webley should be able to hold most other pistols. I'm not sure if putting a snub nose is a good idea for a holster meant for a 4 inch barrel however.

Yeah I agreee wit you on the snub nose, but it was all I had, and it told me that a .38 would fit fine in terms of width and grip. But dang If I could fit a 44 mag in there, Im sold! Im just a high calibre junkie.

The Desert Eagle, no way. The .50 is usually just a bored out .44 that ends up a 5 shot instead of a 6. Same frame, same size cyliner, just fewer rounds. The DE, on the other hand, is a completely different animal. It's about as wide as a 2x4 board, and huge in all aspects. Regards. Michaelson

You're wrong Michaelson! The Desert Eagle is not the size of a 2x4! I'm shocked you would say such a thing! Everyone knows it's at least the size of a 4x6!

The Desert Eagle is a more specialized handgun than those Indy uses. His tend to be more for general purpose use.

The DE fires the standard .44 mag shell. It was originally produced as a 'sportsman' field piece, stepping into the void left by the defunk .44 AutoMag, that fired a rimless .44 magnum round, which WAS considered a specialized gun and round, even today. The DE, because of it's huge size, didn't exactly find it's niche that they thought it would, but the Army grew fond of it in it's .50 configuration, and the .44 mag version still is looking for an audience. But it's not really a specialized piece, as defined by the gun buying or selling crowd. It's just a field artillary piece looking for a place to go. (grins) Regards. Michaelson

.454 Casull revolver out of Wyoming.

The original .44 Mag by Smith, the .44 AutoMag, and all Desert Eagles are very immpractical firearms for normal carry and use. They are show pieces. Only Clint Eastwood could carry a .44 Magnum and get away with it. The most powerful handgun that you could carry and use is a .357 with a 4(prefferable) or 5 inch barrel. Just my two cents.
