I just couldn't stop myself from going in my local gunstore today, and that is not good for my wallet, because I am weak on guns. So I walked in, and there she was! A Webley MkVI converted to .45ACP in great condition, and I mean great. I got it for $300 and the guy threw in a couple of half moon clips. I have been looking for one of these for years and I am so glad that I finally have it. I'll fire it for the first time this week and I'll try to post some pics. Just thought I'd share my recent addition to the gear with you.
How many of you have or have had Webley MkVI's? Just curious. Thanks.

Hey Doc,
I'm curious..what are the restrictions on owning a firearm in France?
Do you have to apply for special permits?
Do you have to be a collector?
What are the restrictions on transportation of firearms in your country?
I'm curious to know how it differs from our restrictions and federal laws.
Congrats Magnum!!

Illinois Troy,
It is forbidden in france to buy / have a firearm without permits and you got the permits only if you have never had trouble with police and for a good reason : sport or hunting ! if it is for collection, you must have permit too even if the gun never go out your house ! ( i hope you understand ? )
I have mine from an " old " English friend....

That's a very good price. I've seen them around but, haven't seen one yet for the "right price". Way to go.

Happy you found your Webley. I have had one for a few years now that was converted at well. I have read several articles regarding the .45 ACP or Colt bullets. The articles stated to lean toward the Colt account it creates lower pressure/stress on the pistol. Since the pistol was designed for wHaT I classify as a .45kurtz (Kurtz=short) or .455 Ely which is closer to the 45 colt. The .45ACP will need the full or half moon clips and they can be had for relatively nothing a gun show (like a nickel a piece or so). I have only shot the .45 ACP with no problems. The only drawback I found is loading/unloading moon clips until I found a nice device call a "De-Mooner". I recall I purchased the tool from Dillon Precision's THE BLUE PRESS catalogue. It was cheap price wise and is built like a brick. Highly recommend for saving moon clips from being bent when removing spent casings. I bought mine about 7 years ago for $125.00 and from the reading I have seen here today and in the past I got a really good deal. Oh I bought a lanyard and holster from IMA and it is just sweet. I also suggest getting a really heavy belt for the holster as the pistol is rather heavy. Good Luck - Keep us posted - PiX would be nice!
