OK, so my wife and I take a long weekend break in Barcelona last May. It has been raining; we’ve been walking around the town for hours and have stopped for a few too many cervezas. Then, there in front of us is a Sombreria. In the window a brown fedora labelled ‘Indiana’ in front of a Last Crusade poster. My dearest eggs me on because, firstly I’m already wearing the Wested and secondly she’s trying to defend the purchase of a new leather handbag.
So, ten minutes later I am walking around town with a new lid.
In the cold light of day, it’s probably not that accurate and I would have got a better, cheaper hat from Akubra, but hey that’s impulse buying for you!
Because of the state I was in when I bought it I can’t say much about it. It is made by Fernandez y Roche of Seville, has no liner, a fabric sweatband and it has a folded-over edge on the brim. (I’m sure this has a proper name!;) Cost 72 Euros (about 49GBP at the time)

I think it's still cool, apart from the taper, its not a bad looking lid. Even if it's not accurate you'll always think of the time when you got it.
Here's an idea, we should do a thread to come up with and compare as many fake, falsely advertsied and poor replicas as they can. Maybe a bottom 5 of the Indy lids!

Aw, c'mon, there's nothing wrong with that lid! And a taper's only bad if you want an exact Indy hat. It looks just fine on you, Stever! Not bad, just different. You could probably call it Lao Che cockpit scene accurate.
My first fedora-like hat has a short crown, rolled edge brim, and no liner, but I still love it and wear it. Though I think of it as the 'beater' of the bunch... the stunt hat, for gettin' dirty adventuring.
Fedoras of all shapes and flavours are cool. Watch some movies made in the 1930's and you'll see an astounding variety of fedoras.
Check out the different crown heights and shapes on these two characters.

Thanks for your comments guys.
The story didn't quite end there. As we were waiting for our flight home, wandering around the airport shops (still in jacket and hat of course), the 'Raiders March' burst out over the PA system. No rolling boulders or flying wings appeared, but I got a little self conscious for a while. Later I realised the airport muzak was just playing hits of the stage and screen. Coincidence? or is Big Brother an indy fan?

You fared better than I did on my last flight. While boarding my flight out of Chicago for the last let to Nashville, the loudspeaker system began playing the 'Death March' from the Fantastic Symphony! I kid you not!
VERY nice looking hat, my friend. That's a good find! You 'wear it well' too!
High regards. Michaelson
