I turned my HJ more. Comments?

I turned my HJ more than it was turned before. Look okay?
Any tips or comments would be most appreciated.

The old centre pinch is still there in the shadow- I put some water on it and tried to smooth it out a bit, but it doesn't seem to be going away- seems to add some more character though.

Mrs. Robinson,

I think you mean "HJ," not "AB." Neo said this was his HJ.

I think it looks great, Neo!

Really goes to show how great a job Fedora's done... if people who OWN his hats are confusing them with Herbert Johnson hats - then that's a good hat. :D

You asked so I'm telling. I think it's a bit too exaggerated. I think the side on the left should have a little bit of curl as well.

Hat looks nice and perfectly porportioned to your face/head.

It looks good, all I would say is a little more curl on the sides and it will be perfect

It's gone too far, I think you've turned it just a shade too far.

Neo,
I think it looks great. It has a lot of character and the brim width suits your face. Some people do turn their hats too much and their brims have a look of "bunching up" on the side, as if it is practically sideways on their head. I think that looks really stupid. Yours looks great because the brim width seems in proportion to your face.

Neo,
What ever floats your boat man. I mean, so what if someone tells you they think it looks bad? you think it looks good? clog up the hole in your boat and keep on sailing. For me, I just pop it on my head and go. and every year it gets reblocked, at the same time, weither i see taper or not. Personally, if you like the way a hat looks you shouldent change it just to make it look like something in a film. Melty, what the heck is up with that name thing, ive always wondered that....mrs.robbinson? pepper?
Kindest regards
Adam

8) Way to handle that one, Mrs. Robinson. Coo coo ka choo.

Neolithic, I do think that MeltyMan has a point in that it's important to turn it only as far you need to, in order to get the appropriate look according to whatever scene you want it to look like.

What scene are you going for?

Shane

I really like Hemingway's hat too, but there is very little turn there. It's what suits you.
Thanks Melty. -Just enough of a turn for me. :D
It would actually have more of a turn, but I am always putting my hat on crooked. I am of the school of those who have turned their hats, then continually forget to wear them that way.
Best,
HJ

To all hat turners- You need some tension in those brims- you need tighter fits. YOU NEED THE CHICKEN BEAK, or you got nothin'! - It's the v shape in the very front of the brim from a tight hat (front to back) Stuff paper towels in the front or back to stretch the hat lengthwise if you have to. It looks very good on you. I have to agree with Ken though, maybe a little fiddling with the brim curl and perhaps a trim on your right hand side? Not much though, I must say you did great with this one. ;)

Swindy

Thanks fellas for your comments, they've really helped.
I'm tweaking the hat a bit more, but on this side of the world, it's almost time to hit the sack.

3thoubucks, I think, because my HJ is a fairly tight fitting hat anyway, that I get the 'Chicken Beak'.

Thanks, Melty. 8)

I think the AB's really kick butt when they are seen in profile though- the tighter HJ tends to give me a bit of taper in the back of the hat which you can see in my last post. I mean- it's no huge deal to me- I think just about everyone has it (except the ABs) but just shows you how spot on Fedora's ABs are.

Yeah you got the chicken beak! And that's why your brim looks better than some others I've seen. Buk buk buk... baGAWWWW! Hey! Turning your hat got you the dome above your left ear! (The pic in the first post) - I put a wire in my hat to get controll of that.....
