Took the Alden's Plunge. Kerspalsh! PICS!

Post by Gater »

Well, I just had the pleasure of speaking to Jim at Alden's in San Fran, and ordered my Alden's. After being measured, I went with the 10E's.

With the S&H and currency conversion, they'll cost me $380.00, but with Christmas shopping done, my next 'bonus' cheque is all mine! And the Adventurebilt is already ordered and paid for.

Jim was saying that there is a very limited supply of the 405's left, due to a lack of the leather available to the manufacturer. Which is why I jumped on 'em.

Will post pics when they get here. Glad to be part of the 'club'. Wonder how they'll feel with my collapsed arch??

Congrats on the shoe.

I have also seen the 405's featured in a few men's magazines as a "trendy" shoe to wear for Fall of 2004.

So, I am sure they had higher than expected sales. I'll bet at the beginning of the year, they only budgeted to make a certain number of shoes.

Wowzers, that Is a load of cash. But it is money well spent, and the boots will last you for years to come!

Hey Pyro, what magazines spoke of the 405's?

Cheers

Jim's great to deal with. He even lowered the price on the customs sheet to lower taxes. I think I ended up paying $9.00 in taxes for Aldens. Hopefully, he'll remember to do the same to yours.

Hey Gater, with international shipping and the conversion rate to Australian dollars it works out to be even more- - but they ARE worth it. They are the best shoes I've ever owned.

Hope you get them soon and you enjoy 'swaggering' around in them.

Yeah......Aldens are pretty awesome! I have put mine through the ringer and they are still the most comfortable footwear I own! Maybe we SHOULD get membership cards..........with a little hole so that you can wear it around your neck with an Alden 405 shoelace! Someone should call Alden...I smell a great promotion!!!

Well, got my Alden's on Friday. They are the correct brown, and not the Pumpkin orange of the previous boots, and the cognac Deckers

I was just able to look over a brand new pair of Aldens yesterday and the color is awesome compared to my first pair.
Almost compelled to get a 3rd pair.

Not a very private place for a murder...

(But I would imagine these Aldens owners don't care if we kill one another off...)

That's one heck of a list there, buddy. I'd imagine I might like to hear some stories if they're not too bad.

Btw - loving the color of the shoes - beautiful.

Well, since it's not Gear related, I'd hate to have this go off-topic, but it was during my 'bouncer' days.

Back to the boots, is it better to Picards them now, or give them a few months to 'break in'?
